Using Firefox or IE 6 - I can't seem to download Real Player from Real.com. Keep getting the following error: The connection was refused when attempting to contact software-dl.real.com

I am using Norton firewall - and tried turning that off during download - no joy. Wondering if anyone has tried to download any Real players recently and experienced the same problem - and somehow solved it.

    Server's probably down!

Try installing 'Real Alternative' (search for it in Google) - less than half the size of RealPlayer and not as crappy as slow as RealPlayer is.

RealPlayer is a real shoddy piece of software in my opinion! I wouldn't be bother in downloading it. Real Alternative is designed like the old style Windows Media Player and is much better, in my opinion!

    Best of luck!

UPDATE: Click here to download 'Real Alternative'!

    I second Real Alternative,
works fine with Firefox and its less bloated compared to Real Networks Realplayer

Real Alternative and QuickTime alternative are all you need for realplayer streams and quicktime streams. I recommend them 100%. Much more streamlined than the actual realplayer and quicktime viewer.

If Mplayer can't play it, nothing can.

This site has been shut down because of numerous patent violations in MPlayer. The other free software multimedia players are next.

So I guess that means nothing can play it then, huh?

Did you read the whole page ?
Enter the MPlayer homepage while it is still available.

    Right at the bottom ;)
