    Seems a bit crap!

Hit on a dozen or so categories... each with no auctions!

EBay needn't worry just yet! :D

Hmmmmm.... money for nothing... well, credit for nothing!

    Definantly fishy!

    Hi headshot,

Bidireland is free to list, the reason for the 20 euros is to keep new accounts above zero euros, when the accounts hit zero they automaticaly suspend.

    Hope this helps.

We only started this auction site last weekend, we're not trying to compete against ebay, just trying to provide a decent auction site for ireland as ebay don't have an irish auction and ebid.ie isn't the greatest.

Where's Infini when you need him? Someone make a gathering card for users who create an imaginary adversary to argue with as a sly way of promoting their product/service. :D

We hope our site will be around for a while, we're not a fly by night company , we have a team of 4 web developers and 2 search engine optimizers, plus we're using a well known irish promotion company.
My team also operate a 10 million a year car hire website and have many years experiance of web startup.

Hopefully our site will provide a safe, free buying and selling enviroment.

I personally have traded on Ebay for 5 years and now think it's time for an auction site in Ireland.

Please try our site before judging us.

    Headshot, my apologies.

Bidireland, where on your site is your company registration number, address or landline tel number. I know nothing about the legal requirements for your line of work but this info would help put my mind at ease.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68,317 ✭✭✭✭seamus

But is goes no further than this thread bidireland ;)

i'll add an about us section to the site tomorow with the address and the stuff needed.

I can assure you that I won't be "pimping" my site on the other boards, i don't really have the time to sit all day typing into these boards, i got past that in the 90's. :D

would getting an ebay franchise or whatever not make more\sense than starting up a new site and npt advertising it in the papers/telly etc

I've got an nGage myself which i bought new for €80 (with €70 credit) this time last year!

    Loco!!

I took a look and it costs about €5 just to put an item up for auction - rediculous

Well, I have to add.. the site looks nice and clean and loads fairly fast. Now with just a bit more content, it looks like it could be one for the favourites.

A couple of suggestions though, some kind of "browse all" link would be handy in each of the parent categories. Because there isn't a lot of content right now but there is a lot of subsections, its hard to search through all the individual categories looking for items actually for auction.

Also, because it's an Irish website, you should at least customise the address fields in the register section for Irish users. City, State/Province and zip code should be replaced by just a "town" and "county" field. It wouldn't let me register with a zip code, I know I could probably put a 0 in or something, but I'm a very pedantic person. Was this website designed by yourself or did you buy a ready made template?

And just one more thing... "Photopgraphy"

    Good luck with it. :)

not 5 euro though, you have the option of adding more and more stuff like bold writing etc at extra cost. You could put up a basic listing for maybe a euro or two

wtf you think i would steep this low my god

As the auction says it's free to sell, the 5 euro your talking about is for the featured items that are also free for the time being, this is why you get 20 euros credit when you sign up.
I'm also looking at trimming the category lists down untill the content picks up.

i'll also look at a browse all section, the auction script was bought, now we're editing it, we have another script with more features but we're not going to use it untill the site gets a little bit more busy.

    Hope i've answeres everyone's questions.

    Thanks Headshot,

If anybody wants to view all the items on the auction please click on the word "search" and then on the box "search", don't enter any info and the search will return all the auction items.

Click here to view all the items
