How many hours sleep do you get every night? I usually sleep within 30-40mins. I usually get about 5-6 hours sleep weekends (typically 3am-8am) - I value my time off. :) ...and about 6-7 hours sleep weekdays (typically 12am-7am) - work orientated. I'm pretty rigid that way. I get up more or less fresh (slightly tired but I feel I always am even if I sleep in!).

well, last night I got 2 1/2 - stoopid clocks going forward and all... when I'm on days, about 5 - 7, on nights about 8, when I'm off, about 8 or 9. Then it also all depends on whether or not I go out too! tee hee!
Average about 6 though I'd say...

Depends if I'm on earliers or lates in work. If on earlies, normally get around 6 hours 1am till 7am.... That drifts more towards 5 hours sleep most of the times.

If I'm on lates, I get anything between 5 hours to 11 hours. Depending the time I go to bed, normally 2am, sometimes 5am sometimes midnight.

People are getting less than the recommended amount.. obviously, in the work/life battle, sleep is losing out.. we should adopt the old French socialist policy of the 35 hour working week.. or less.

Weekdays, about 9-10 hours. More, if I can help it. I like sleep.

Weekends, about 6-7 if I'm lucky. Or haven't put off going to bed because I'll just have to get up for work precisely when I'm starting to enjoy it. Half the time I work nights and have to try sleeping during the day. Unpleasent.

I usually get about 8 hours on a weekaday but at weekends I sleep till I naturally wake up which is usually about 10/11 hours. I hate not getting at least one long sleep a week.

Last time I went several days with little or no sleep, I had a killer killer migraine. Had to get about 11 hours to get rid of it!

But yeah, generally I'd get about 6-7 hours sleep.

I need at least 8 hours or I feel very strange the next day and my short-term memory is diminished. Usually, I have more than 8 if I can.

Weekdays... go to sleep any time between 1 and 2am, get up at about half 7, 8ish. So that's about 6 or 7 hours.
Then weekends usually about 8, 9 hours. I don't sleep in that much, really. Normally 8 hours is sufficient.

    4-5 hours
I sleep about 5-6 hours on weeknights, 12 or so hours on weekends/holidays.

I'd prefer if I could get like 8 hours of sleep each night but it's bloody hard to get up in the morning :)

Usually 4-5, sometimes less. I just don't get tired very often, it can be annoying. I'll stay in bed for the 7 or 8 hours though, in the hope that it might actually count as sleep : p

3-4 on weekdays, 4-5 on weekends. Sometimes I can go for days without sleep. Not by choice obviously.

With me my sleep pattern varies so much i don't have a pattern anymore!

During the week normally 7/8 hours most times its anything between 3 and 14 hours though.

Weekends i like to get around 10 hours a night/day.

Can't wait to finish college and start work and possibly get a dreaded "routine" going

Wow, this question certainly has got the phones ringing. :D My 6-7 hour sleep pattern as I said is influenced by work... and was similar in my college years but during weekends and holidays I really did abuse sleep. In "Holiday/Summer" mode I would keep going til 5-6am and not get up until 11am+ :) I'd really hate doing that during weekends now. It would depress me thinking about how few hours left to the start of the next monday. I now prefer getting up tired and wake up over breakfast and a quick walk. By then I be fresh enough - but yes those first 5 mins can be agony getting up. I normally wake up before my alarm clock (the mobile beeps to me v.softly an hour earlier as a gentle warmup reminder). I would really sleep in for 2 hours extra if only there was more time...

    4-5 hours
Usually between 5 and 8 hours a night. I'm on my 3 weeks off college at the moment, so I'm in a really bad routine of going to bed at 3am and only getting up at 11-12ish. In college term time I usually sleep a lot less, depends what time I'm in at the next day of course.

People under 24 years old should be getting a minimum of 9/10 hours sleep every night. Over 24's should be getting a minimum of 8 hours every night.

If you have a test approaching, it is best to get to bed early rather than try and cram in a few more hours study as you are more likely to remember everything you have studied up to the cramming better and are likely to forget most of the cramming you did.

Lack of sleep increases appetite so you will end up eating more as a result.

I try and get 8 hours every night. I find it very hard to do unfortunately. I find it easier to get 8 hours when I am working in a routine in a "normal" job rather than working on poker.ie

    4-5 hours
5-6 hours during week days, but if I have a hard week I sometimes fall asleep after work, usually in front of the TV. I compensate by having a big lie in on saturday, not getting up until after 12:00.

    4-5 hours
General rule: sunday -> wednesday, about 7 hours. Thursday usually go out, so about 4 tops, Friday 8 (more if I stay in), Saturday 8-10.

I can run on very little sleep, although I'd prefer to get over 4 hours a night to be at optimum performance level.

If I've a match/race I tend to take lots of naps the day before as I know I'll be too on edge to get a decent nights sleep.

    *shrug*

I can lie in the with the best of 'em too though.

    I sleep about 5/6 hours a night.

I went to bed drunk at 10:00pm yesterday and I woke up at 3am and I can't sleep now. :(

    6-7 hours
I normally get 8 hours, during the week, any less and Im fecked for the day. On a day off, Id easily sleep for a good 10 hours at least, though probably more like 15.

I think i read before that people need 8 hours a day, thats the healthy normal, though in my opinion, some people can get away with a few hours, while others need half a feckin day.

If you check out www.bbc.co.uk/sleep there are some interesting articles, surveys and more on sleep. This page was for the Sleep documentary that was on BBC a few weeks ago with Professor Robert Winston, it was very interesting.

Check out some of the surveys if you're interested to find out if you're a night owl or a day person etc.

i find this hard to beleive you have 4 hours sleep on more than 3 consective days and still be able to perform optimally. either, you eat a lot, you consume lot's of stimulants.

or maybe you have a small metabolism.

or you optimal performance is quite poor.

Since I moved to Navan, my sleeping pattern has gone out the window!

When I was living at home in Dublin, I'd head to bed about 12.30am during the week & get up for 7.30am for work.

Now that I'm living in Navan, I should be heading to bed for 10.30pm, 'cause I need to be up for 5.45am to get to work in Dublin. But I'm still heading to bed at 12.30/1am, so I'm completely exhausted all the time!!

At the weekends, I'm never able to sleep for more than 8 hours [except on the odd occasion when I'll sleep for 11/12 hours]!!

    Less than 4 hours
I work nights (Mon-Thurs)so I tend to sleep from 11am till 4-5pm. On the weekends I tend to get much more maybe 8-10 hours. I can manage ok on 5 hours during the week but it sure does catch up on you at the weekends.
