    To be pierced in a scrupulously hygienic open environment, by a clean, conscientious piercer wearing a fresh pair of disposable latex gloves.

    To a sober, friendly, calm & knowledgeable piercer, who will guide the piercee through their piercing experience with confidence & assurance.

    To the peace of mind which comes from knowing that the piercer knows & practices the very highest standards of sterilisation & hygiene.

    To be pierced with a new, completely sterile one-use needle, which is disposed of in a medical sharps container immediately after use on that piercee only.

    To be touched only with freshly sterilised, appropriate implements properly used & immediately disposed of or re-sterilised in an autoclave prior to the next use.

    To know that ear-piercing guns are never appropriate & are often dangerous, when used anywhere else but the ear lobes.

    To be fitted only with appropriately sized jewelery, which is safe and suitable in material, design & construction and which promotes healing. (gold plated, gold-filled & sterling silver jewelery is never suitable for any new or unhealed piercing.)

    To be fully informed on proper aftercare procedures & to have care with all piercing & related queries.

    For those who didnt know :)

    Also Tattoo Clients Bills of rights,
    Tattoo Client Bill Of Rights

    Ever Person Getting Tattooed Has The Right:

    1. To be tattooed in a scrupulously hygienic, open environment, by a clean, conscientious tattoo artist wearing a fresh pair of disposable latex gloves.

    2. To a sober, friendly, calm and knowledgeable tattoo artist, who will guide them through their tattoo experience with confidence and assurance.

    3. To the peace of mind which comes from knowing that their tattoo artist knows and practices the very highest standards of sterilization and hygiene.

    4. To be tattooed with a brand new, completely sterilized needle, which is immediately disposed of in a medical sharps container (or other safe manner) after use on the tattoo client alone.

    5. To be touched only with freshly sterilized, appropriate implements, properly used and disposed of or resterilized in an autoclave prior to use on anyone else.

    6. To know that getting tattooed anywhere besides in a licensed tattoo studio is NEVER appropriate, and is extremely dangerous.

    7. To be satisfied with the design they choose, and confident that their tattoo artist’s abilities have resulted in a correctly drawn design. Tattoo clients have the right to expect their tattoo artist to be able to ‘customize” any design, or be able to create a unique design, to the satisfaction of the client.

    8. To be fully informed about proper aftercare, and to have continuing access to their tattoo artist for consultation and assistance with all their tattoo-related questions.

    9. To stop their tattoo at any point. If a tattoo client feels, at any time, that something is wrong with their design or the work that is being done on them, they have the right to stop the tattoo from going any further. If a tattoo client feels the need to stop a tattoo, they should consult the studio owner or manager immediately- prior to leaving the studio.

    Pretty much the same but handy to have anyway

    Its a real pity that none of that is legally binding.

    It really should be.

    I know what you mean. Just having a view around a few sites and a found some piercing laws in a few American cities. We need some sort of action to put them
    Gangsters out of business

    For Example
    211.760 Tattooing and body piercing of humans by nonmedical personnel for
    remuneration -- Registration -- Administrative regulations -- Compliance
    checks -- Hearings.
    (1) As used in this section:
    (a) "Body piercing" means the act of penetrating the skin or body part of a human
    being to make a hole, mark, or scar;
    (b) "Facility" means the place of business where tattooing, body piercing, or both
    are conducted; and
    (c) "Tattooing" means the act of producing scars on a human being or the act of
    inserting pigment under the surface of the skin of a human being, by pricking
    with a needle or otherwise, to produce indelible marks or figures visible
    through the skin, including the application of permanent makeup.
    (2) No person shall engage in, offer to engage in, or carry on any business of tattooing,
    body piercing, or both of humans by nonmedical personnel for remuneration within
    the Commonwealth of Kentucky without first registering with the local health
    department in the district or county in which the person is to perform tattooing,
    body piercing, or both. Registrations shall be valid for one (1) year. Applicants for
    registration shall pay a fee of twenty dollars ($20) to the local or district health
    department.
    (3) The Cabinet for Health Services shall promulgate administrative regulations relating
    to:
    (a) Health and cleanliness of places of business in which tattooing, body piercing,
    or both are conducted;
    (b) Sterilization of tattooing and body piercing apparatus;
    (c) Procedures to prevent the spread of disease or infection during or relating to
    tattooing and body piercing procedures;
    (d) Procedures to prevent any tattooing or body piercing of minors without the
    written notarized consent of a custodial parent or legal guardian; and
    (e) Such other administrative regulations as may be necessary to protect public
    health or properly administer the program requirements of this section.
    (4) Representatives of the cabinet or local or district health departments may visit a
    facility at any time during business hours to ensure compliance with the requirements
    of this section. Representatives of local or district health departments shall visit each
    registered facility in their county or district not less than twice each year.

    Why is non of that legally binding. From the number of studios popping up everywhere, and the amount of people getting tattoo'd and pierced, it seems to be a fairly big buisness. And extremely dangerous for there not to be laws regarding this, i.e if something goes wrong. I could see this becoming another one of those scandals that results in a tribunal being set up only after]/i] something goes horribly wrong, like someone gets semtascemia(sp?) and ends up dead or something.

    There are no offical rules set out by the state, but most in most reputable places, down here anyway, it's 16 for any ear piercings, 18 for any oral/genital/nipple/surface etc. piercing. I wouldn't trust a Piercing studio that would pierce someone underage without consent.
