OK... so i did leave getting an Easter Egg til the last minute but my God!..

I went to 6 different shops that were sold out.. and i obviously wasn't alone as these shops were full of people wandering the aisles in search of any form of chocolate eggs.

I then got one of the last Easter Eggs available in Dunnes Stores. One of these one's... it was only after i arrived home that i discovered you only get 3 chocolate's inside them! Ah well.. at least there's actually 2 eggs in it.

Anyways, looking around in Dunnes, I get the impression that most people just gave up looking for actual eggs and just substituted anything they could find... saw people buying those 3-packs of Creme Eggs, those chocolate mallows called 'Easter Eggs'.

Anyone have hassle getting an Easter Egg in a last-minute frantic search?

Pfff, I don't think I'll be getting an egg this year. I quite fancy some easter egg action.

Tesco's are always good for an egg, the one that i used to work for kept a load of them in the back room til about 1 hour before closing and they told people asking "theres a truck on its way..." and people waited and called their friends and all eggs were gone in 20 minutes, it was like one of those mad rushes you see in sitcoms "EVERYONE FOR THEMSELVES"... pity my knowledge of this event was second hand...

My parents got me one yesterday... cant find it for the life of me

Not on the box of the egg it doesn't... you need to open the tiny label on it to see that!

There's a two euro shop on Liffey Street- I think it is- and everything there is two euro. They have huge easter eggs in there! The BMC in Cobh have massive easter eggs for dirt cheap.

Superquinn Lucan and Naas, Dunnes in Lucan, Centra in Kill, Tesco in Maynooth - me not happy :(
Only "eggs" left are crabby buttons eggs- if there are any at all. There certainly is an easter egg famine this year around. Maybe the shops wised up and ordered what they figured there was a realistic market for? No special offers for us this time around!

I drove down to Navan today from Dublin, only to realise when I'd arrived that I'd left my wee brother's Smarties egg and Kinder eggs in Dublin - searched 3 shops in Navan and not an egg to be found.

Eventually got him a tiny Kit Kat egg from the local shop which I'd say they had out the back since last year.

Man,I'll be the least popular person in the world tomorrow.

I was actually very organised this year and for once bought my easter eggs a week early so no dissapointed Kiddies tomorrow!

Was pure murder over them though in the pound shop in Nutgrove earlier though, nearly getting to fisticuffs and that was the staff!

A famine here in Portlaoise today too. Went into Tesco this evening and there was nothing to be found either. Had to settle for a couple of boxes of those Gateaux marshmallow egg things and a couple of boxes of those small Nestle Double Cream eggs. Other than that, all they had were small Smarties eggs (3 in a box too, like the Nestle ones).

And, guess what? I haven't got a single egg this year and won't be getting one either. :( That's the problem with growing up, I guess. Oh to be a kid again and getting Easter eggs off all the aunts and uncles and relatives........ and then eating chocolate till you puked! :D

What the....? I'm 29 this year and if I didn't get my neggs there'd be hell to pay. Yes, I still get a pressie from my parents and a santy pressie too.

    Damn straight.

Err, I am 31 and I still get an Easter egg at Easter, a rose on Valentines and a present at Christmas from my parents... the nice eggs sold out early this year which is a pity though.

Oh great, yeah, thanks a lot for making me feel even worse now, folks! ;)

No, seriously, I haven't gotten an Easter egg in years. I'm 26 and I don't think I've gotten one off anyone for at least 5 or 6 years now. The only way I'd get one would be if I went out and bought one for myself and, to be honest, I couldn't really be bothered. Besides, it's not really the same buying one for yourself, is it?

Must just be a thing in our family and with the relatives or something whereby once you reach a certain age, "that's it, no more choccy eggy goodness for you, you're too old for all that stuff now!" Or something like that.

    Stingy bastards!

Ah come on, there are no joys.. you don't believe in a benevolent God who loves you, you don't believe in an afterlife and you don't believe there is any intelligent design/reason behind life and the universe... poor depressed feckers.

Anyway, I couldn't find any eggs either.. the kids will have to make do with a kinder surprise again when I get back out of the boozer tonight.
