Clothes label regulations

Does a clothing company have to state the country of manufacture on the clothes it sells? What sort of regulation is there about this?

I like to know where stuff I buy is made but often I see ambiguous labels such as "designed in X" (but where was it made?) or else clothes with no such information at all.

    Thanks in advance!

I don't think so, often all you'll see is a brand name ie St Bernard and no more info.
