How long have we been hearing how the English premiership is amoung the best in the world? Answer, too long.

European football this week has put the icing on what has been a building momentum of opinion in England about European football and Britians Premier leagues place in the leagues there. i.e. they are not up to scratch!

Alot of this has to do with the appointment of Sven Goran as England coach, the realisation that excessive profit and publicity does not make (or replace) good football, and now we have Roy Keanes comments that Man United (stop bowing!) are "average" compared to their European counterparts. This new dose of reality, though long over due can only be good for English football (and by extension Irish).

The question remains though, when will RTE stop kissing Man U's ass and start being a bit more objective about the league as a whole? Until they do we will not get a good picture of quality football and never build a decent National team whose experience extends beyond Dover into the realms of real talent.

p.s. if I hear RTE tell me again that "theres only oen place where you can see all of man Utd's matches" again I will kill the DG of RTE! No disrespect to Man U or their fans but enough petty jingoism funded by our TV licence fees.#

I would also point out that Croatia has a Kick-ass league, for a nation our size. Packed stadiums, international class talant and money to spend. A sad reflection on the FAI.
