    Hi,

GF and myself are going to Italy next month to check out places to get wed. We are flying into Milan and will be staying for a week. I am renting a car and am going to Lake Como and Garda to check out places. We are meeting a wedding planner there and she will show us some churches, reception venues etc. Does any one know of anywhere nice to get married in the area (pics would be great!)?

I was just wondering if anyone could recommend some nice towns/villages/places in the area that we should go to when we have free time.

Is it worth going to florence, Venice or anywhere else. Time is a factor though, as i don't want to be driving all day.

    Hey Rusty !!

Stick to the poker ... less expensive !!

I'm going to a wedding in May around Pisa area, will give you full report when I get back, I'll forward you details of where we are staying when I'm home again, the invite is at home. (Figline is the name of the village)

My friend who is getting married got a wedding planner in Castleknock...is this the same one ... if so, let me know, and I'll arrange for her to fill you in on the agenda ahe has set up for a friend of mine .... I know she is very happy with the service so far, and the location just looks amazing.

You could also look at Lake Streda Rusty, up around Dommodossla, near the Swiss border, and the Simplon Pass.

People from Ireland/UK tend to go to Lake Garda, I worked and lived for a few years in Switzerland, and Lake Stresa is very very nice.

The alps very close by ...... very rose mantic ;)

    Thanks Culchie,

Not sure about poker being the cheaper option - got cleaned on p/stars last night. :(

The wedding planner we are using is an Italian girl from weddingsinitaly.com she was recommended by a friend, but i would be interested in getting the name of the irish based planner as the language barrier sometimes really does get in the way.

Will have to check out lake Stresa sounds good. How far is it from Milan?

look forward to hearing the report on your Pisa wedding, remeber to take your pen and paper and take notes :)

    You in the Fitz tonight?

No, mainly an on-line player Rusty, been to the fitz a few times, but always seem to be too busy !

Having a great month, up over 2K this month, playing $10 & $15 STT, but I've won 2 MTT, and a couple of final tables......including the fecking bubble on the PPP Open qualifier....3rd and $0 !! ... sickening.

Not going tonight ...off to Croatia :D !!!

It wouldn't be too far from Milan I guess....although not as convenient as Lake Garda.

I'll get that name of the woman in Castleknock for you, she was recommended by a friends...isn't that always the way?

If you are getting married in Summer ...Charters go into Pisa, and don't forget Bologna as well .... don't narrow it down to Milan area alone (unless GF says so !)

Shows how bad things have got, when I seen your post GF and me, I thought it was Grand Final and me ....lol !

I think Milan itself is not a nice city (good for shopping though)....Lake Garda is lovely and from there you can easily drive to Verona and carry on to Venice, then down to Bologna and beautiful Florence and drive aroundTuscany (Pisa, Siena, etc.). Motorways are really good but expensive.

If you prefer mountains you should check out the city where I am originally from (Bolzano, Noth-East)...it is kind of smal (100,000 inhabitants) close to the Alps but surrended by loads of nice small lakes....and only 1 hour driving from the north side of Lake Garda.

Lake como is such a nice town, its gets so peaceful at night when all the daytrippers leave and theres a place on top of the mountain which is a seperate village, you have to get a funicolor up to it,and if i was ever to get married in italy i would have a look into getting married up there , there are amazing views all over the lake and mountains.

Go to Florence, amazing city, so beautiful, was there a few months ago. You can have a nice stroll round the city in a day and see everything. Go see David and be in awe.............
