Does anyone know if this means it comes with a cartridge?

Last time this deal was on, the cartridges were described as samples and not the standard retail fill. I wonder whether that is the case this time! I've ordered another one just for the hell of it. I'm gonna build a bungalow with them when I have enough!

I usually wait till I'm buyin somethin else online and then stick in one or two, the shipping in Ireland cost the same as the cables ( in dells case - 3 times  )

anyhow as an example : http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=110315&cks=SER

    Printer Review:

    "Installation and Set up
Once I had purchased the USB cable for about 1/5 of the price that Dell wanted to charge it was time to set up the printer. Following the instructions it was a simple case of loading the CD and installing the software, it is important to do this before plugging in the printer. There is a calibration process that you are taken through to make sure prints are optimum.

    Quality
Printing quality is reasonable but photographs are a little blurred. I haven't yet used it on photographic paper but I would imagine that they would not be of a very high quality. The printing of text is adequate, obviously not as sharp as a laser printer but it will produce a satisfactory document, for a letter or CV.

    Summary
For a tenner this printer is excellent for my needs the occasional print out, I would not say it was industrial strength so not really for an office. The printer comes with cartridges that are about 1/3 full so it is not long before you need replacements, and at a cost of £39 from Dell for the pair these are not cheap, I am sure you could find cheaper on the web but haven't looked as yet. This is not as good a bargain as it may seem, you will get screwed on the refill ink cartridges which are ridiculously overpriced and are only available from Dell. They have modified the printer so that it won't accept Lexmark cartridges.

The only way around this is to use refill kits.

Buy a few of them and just throw them out like you would cartridges.

I think the cartridges are only about 1/3 full so will go in no time.

    We are having technical difficulties

We're sorry but the Online Store is temporarily inaccessible. The Store is undergoing routine maintenance or may be experiencing unexpected technical problems. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your patience as we work to correct the situation. Check back with us shortly.
Don't forget there are now disposal charges - so buying extra printers may have costs later on, unless Dell agree to take them back repak or something

Well i got one, ands apssed on the offer to about 10 others.

The refills work well, i'm told, by someone who refills regularly.

They'll pick up your old one off you for free:

I gladly got rid of my old Brother printer when I bought one of the 15 Euro jobbies in January.

    Hi,

Just ordered a couple. Now for the Q's.

Anyone know if the USB cable required is a USB A/B cable?
Are the cables for USB 1.0 different than those required for USB 2.0?

    Thanks for any info.

    Cheers,
    Peter

So can one just buy any refil kit for this cartridge or is there specific kits suited to certian cartridges?
Also, where would I buy one online?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 88 ✭✭epgriffin

I think most refill kits will work in them from what i've found on the net so I'm off to PCWorld today to see what those chancers have. The only reason for getting any kit specific to the printer is that the black cartridge needs to be drilled through at the top to get the ink in and some kits supply the drill bit.
One thing I noticed when setting up the printer is that it asked whether I was putting in a trial or full cartridge. I selected full to see just how many pages I can squeeze out of the trials!

the offer seems to be gone anyone want to sell me one?? if so PM me please.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,548 ✭✭✭Draupnir

for nayone living in Dublin, there is a place on the Navan Road just after the Social Welfare office and the fancy glass car dealerships called Cartridge World that will fill the colour and black carts for these printers. All for around 20 quid or so. So its worth it.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 19,478 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

IF it is a rebadged lexmark 7200 BW & Colour cartridge then thet can be refilled using the widely available ink refill kits, they sell the colour one in Tesco for around €9, Tesco also have the BW refills kits, cant remember the prices
