I need to setup my computer to recieve faxs rather then a fax machine printing them out.

I already have a fax machine line, i think i have to plug it into the pc modem? or is there a way to recieve the fax via my broadband?

Either way what software would be best to use? I've tried WinFax but found it very anoying so im looking for something better

I'm not sure that you can receive a fax via broadband. The fax has to be sent to a phone number. Your broadband connection does not constitute a number.

I suspect, though i'm not sure that you'll have to use a dial up connection

    I take you're using windows?

It has a very proficient FAX setup before you even need to go fluteing about with win fax. Start>Control Panel>Printers>Fax and the wizard should take you through it then.

Can you add/remove programs and add it as a wimdows component. I think that's roughly the terminology - I'm using a mac so i'm working from memory.

theres a phone line connected into my wireless broadband modem, so would i be able to recieve fax's through that phone line?

In windows fax machine, in the setup, it only detects the modem on the computer so i cant find a way of making it detect the phoneline connected to my broadband modem.. is it possible?

To use your phoneline, you'll needto use a real modem. Alternatively, there are fax-thru-internet things around, not sure how expensive tho.
