Check out these gorgeous specs I demanded from the peons at BC Rich:
    Stealth 7 string
    Solid black colour
    Neck-through Maple
    Mahogany Body
Ebony fretboard with no inlays (Side markers only)
    Reversed pointed headstock
    Locking Tuners
    Fixed bridge
    Metal pickup rings (Black)
    1 volume and 1 tone
DiMarzio Evolution (Bridge) and Air Norton (Neck) pickups
    Chrome hardware

Oh yeah, it's going to be something swish altogether.
Pity I've got to wait 6-8 months for it to be built now.

    Thoughts?

Nice. That's going to be a vicious li'l bastid when it arrives. :) If only I lived in Galway, I'd be plotting its kidnapping right now...

Up for a roadtrip? Dibs on his Nomad though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Sure. We can split the rest of his guitars and whatnot. You're driving, and it better be a moped, or else...

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Meh, you can have his guitars. They're only BC Riches :p

And there's no way in hell you're sitting behind me on a moped

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

I just want the footage of the police chase with two guys and a bunch of musical equipment buzzing their way from Galway to Dundalk and Dublin on the back of a moped. :p

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

That could be interesting. The Stealth strapped to your back, the Nomad balanced on the handle bars...

Me desperately trying to keep several other guitars from falling off the back... and at least a bass or two. Can you imagine the helicopter footage?! I'd have the family at home taping it! :D

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

We could probably armour the moped with guitars... All the hair trailing off the back of the thing, it'd look like a motorised horse...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Well I dunno about you, but my hair's short at the moment. It'd make the best police chase video ever anyway. :D

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

My hair will cover the moped :p

So yeah, is Karl Hungus the first boards member to have a custom made guitar?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Ya big hairy mosher ya! :D

Not sure actually. I thought someone else had one a while back... I really want to play that now...

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

I can't remember having any. Hmmm, maybe I should start building mine now. I'll have it done in far less than 6-8 months :D That'd take the wind out of his sails. Plus I'd have my name on the fecker :p

I could very well be. Leastways the first boards member to have a custom made BC Rich guitar.

Oh, and if anyone doesn't know what a model the Stealth is, it was the one used by Chuck Schuldiner. And if you don't know who Chuck Schuldiner was, go to www.emptywords.org now.

For my specific guitar, try and imagine this except with the headstock, chrome hardware and bridge of this and you should have a good mental piccyture.

don't really care much for the bc rich's but the stealth is definatly the best of the bunch.. if feylya happens to die in the process of stealing the gear i want the nomad right :D ... you'll have your sound nailed in no time kh... well done best of luckwith it.. how much did it set u back

That is one serious piece of gear. Good for you man.

What are the specs of the neck you ordered?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

Nice one Ken, did you go for a three way pickup switch or a more interesting 5 way config. I'm thinking about rewiring my Ibanez with this config

    1 - Bridge series
    2 - Bridge Parallel
    3 - Both Humbuckers
    4 - Both Inner Coils
    5 - Neck

Hopefully it looks more complicated than it is :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

5 way all the way ... that sounds sweet doc how much is setting u back... i don't thik i'd chance feckin with the pickups although wouldn't mind stickin an 81 and 85 inmy edr470 hmm

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

Just the price of the SD JB and 59, I already have the guitar, however the stock pickups are a bit of a let-down so while I'm changing them I might experiment a bit :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

Check out the Seymour Duncan JB if you haven't already, a beautiful sounding humbucker if ever there was one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

are they the ones in single coil format (jb is jeff beck is it)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

Nah, they're Jeff Beck alright but a proper humbucker. Very versatile will do the loud stuff well but sweetens up for quieter stuff too.

NO. For the love of God, NO! JB does not stand for Jeff Beck. It stands for Jazz Blues!

thanx feylya think i'm gonna get the jb's doc j was talkin about..look swee

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

The 59 is nice too. Have one in the Ibanez (I think. And it's a Duncan/Ibanez...) but it's a lovely tone. Don't like when the two of them are split though. Think I might replace the tone pot with a push pull pot for splitting the coils and rewire the switch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

yeah its hard to get the mix right for havin both of em on ... i had an sg and emg (same as zakk wyldes pickups) jesus it was good but worth a telecaster and a marshall in the arsenal which is what i bout from the money i sold it for

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Jesus, I dunno. Sell a guitar? Don't think I could. I've the ZW set in my LTD. Gorgeous clean tone and a perfect distortion tone. The Ibanez has a better bell like sound from it though. I'm half tempted to swap the pickups around just to see what they're like.

it was a gothic sg with the zw's... really nice (got a claim off a motorbike bein stolen and bought that insteadof a new bike ha)... anyway i kinda grew outta the metal sound i was usin and was only playin thru a marshall copy ****ty little combo.. had to do it got 1800 for it cos i think they went outta production... anyway zw's in an ibanez would just be sweet... what wood is in the body of that???

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

It's mahogany with a maple cap in the Ibanez, just like ZW's Les Pauls, only not quite as thick. I just want to do it for a comparision. It's a **** load of work though :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

bit too much for me tbh... sounds nice my edr has a luthite body..weird but does the job

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Ah, the EDR's with the Lo-TRS II bridge? Worst Ibanez bridge ever! Horrible thing all together.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 309 ✭✭kazaam

model name BC Rich KH :D

    name rip off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

yeah not the best gonna change it soon enough just agettin off me arse and doin it is the problem..i'll probably just upgrade to a sexier ibanez the edr was all i could afford at the time

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Aye. I've been looking at one of the S series Ibanezs. Damn nice. I wouldn't mind a Prestige 1570 but they're way out of my price range at the moment. Unless I sell the Ibanez...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

got any pics might be interested?? if u were floggin it that is

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    http://www.ibanez.com/guitars/guitar.asp?model=SZ520QM&z=y&color=2

That's her. I'd probably go the Buy And Sell route if I was selling. I'd get more money. Must find out how much it costs in this country actually.

No, I'm just taking the standard 3-way switch tbh.
That is one serious piece of gear. Good for you man.

What are the specs of the neck you ordered?

Um, the neck is Maple, anything else I'm leaving to the boffins at BC Rich, because I've always prided the standard BC Rich necks as being deadly comfortable.
Bloody hell, how much is that setting you back?

Take it you didnt want the 8-string in the end

No, didn't go for the 8 string, but funny you should mention it though, because I found out a little something of note. Long before your Nevborn and your LGM, there was one company that perfected the low F# tuned 8 string, and that company was none other than BC Rich themselves! Take a peek at this! An 8 string built for Jazz Guitarist Robert Conti back in 1996!

So if I do want an 8 string in the future I know there is but ONE company I shall be going to. :D
