An hour (less the ads) from 6 - 7 this evening, with Setanta commentary (surprised it wasn't the ITV crew). Adequate but not spectacular. I get the feeling we didn't miss much compared to the full race.

Yeah the reace was fairly crap tbh.

The boringness of the race only served to highlight how crap both the ITV and Setanta commentators actually are!

There were lots of stuttering at random points, none of the slickness that should be in F1!!

I do like Gary Anderson though, he made a great spot re. KR'r tyre failure.

so what is the deal here for this season?

ive got sky digital + sports package in my home, so that means no UTV F1 coverage and now no RTE F1 coverage (sometimes i wonder what i get for me tv licence!).
it doesnt seem that my sports package is adequate for viewing Setanta, and i sure as hell aint going to pay even more out to the monopoly.

is 1hr less the advert on tv3 all i have to look forward to?

Jaysus...bad an' all as Peter Collins was at least RTÉ showed the full race and usually live. Thankfully I have ITV albeit with crap reception...

It seems we've all been had again. Had sky, got setanta in for the f1 and then Tv3 go and show an hrs(ish) worth of highlights w/o even advertising it (i think). FFS!

pure luck i stumbled accross the oz gp highlights which were "a change to our advertised programme". Wudnt have bothered with shelling out half of the €100 for setanta if that was the case. me smells a rat.
sometimes i wonder what i get for me tv licence!.

    yup!

Could you imagine if TV3 got Trevor Welch to commentate? I'd rather not!

Oh please God, no! He's sh*te enough as it is doing the Champions League stuff! The only thing worse would probably be Martin King doing the F1 commentary. I can just imagine it now:

"Well, Schumacher's leadin' by 6 seconds ahead of Montoy-ah wid Alons-ah a furder second behind. And it looks like it's goin' ta rain shortly, but sure that'll just make things bit more excitin', wha'? Anyway, while I'm here, I'd like to give a big shoutout to Bridie O' Callaghan in Roscrea who's celebratin' her 40th birthday tonight. Sure, life's only beginning for ya now love, isn't that right? Ha ha!"

I remember a few years ago TV3 showed highlights of the Phoenix Park Motor Races one night and they got one of their sports reporters, Darren Frehill, to do the commentary. 'Nuff said!

Also, regarding TV3's F1 highlights package, see my post here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=2457075&postcount=21
