well i reckon he needs the sarcasm to get thru modding that forum.

And tbh, there is not much point in posting something like this in here because you'll just get lots of abuse unless you link to unjust examples of his alledged sarcasm and/or make valid criticisms...

I must say im mighty disheartend at all the negative publicity I've been recieving of late. It cuts me deep, man.

Some time ago I questioned whether Moriaty's signature was appropriate for a Moderator, since then I can empathize with him in relation to the Broadband forum.

Hardly a day goes by without somebody harping on about how bad broadband is in Ireland, what did these people do when broadband wasn't easily available? - I bet they didn't spend as much time on a pay-as-you-go 56K dial-up connection wingeing about how slow things were.

New service offerings have come along recently (SMART and Eircom's doubling of download speeds) but still the bitching goes on and on.

I believe Moriaty does a grand job keeping order and making sure things stay on-topic .. keep up the good work Moriarty ... there are some of us out here who need you ...

I could do with a laugh. Nothing like a well delivered sarcy remark.

I don't believe Moriarty has any modding rights to this forum.

MarinoMark, you would want to be careful you don't get banned for spamming this forum....all of these posts should have been in the one thread....

    Moriarty. Tough, but fair.

I think he's doing a great job culling the n00bs who don't read a few topics down the page, or God forbid, use the search function.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 345 ✭✭padraigf

I agree his moderation is good, but closing a guy's topic when he's only asking for opinion is not cool. It wasn't like he was spamming with new posts asking for opinions on you, or giving out on every thread. He just asked a question and moriarty closed it instantly.

Ignorant noob-ish questions are one thing, a valid question about possible over-moderation is another. It would have lead to *less* spam if the topic was left open for people to vent there instead. One thread full of whining would be far better than people just giving out all over the place.

Definitely unfair to close MarinoMark's thread.

  • Subscribers Posts: 9,716 ✭✭✭CuLT

Questioning the moderator's ability is not a broadband topic.

It's a feedback issue. Moriarty directed him thus.

Whats wrong with a mod using sarcasm?

I see nothing wrong with it, Its his posting style he has every right to it as much as some posters choose to use the "Mash keys,Slobber & make bad nazi mod go boom" style.

While Moriarty has sometimes used sarcasm at the wrong times lately he hasn't been as bad as he used to be. Whether that remains or not I don't know but I know that their has been a recent surge in the number of Trolls in that forum and some of them had been acting like retarded muppets. Besides why did ya post 3 flippin' posts on the same subject ONE IS ENOUGH.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,330 ✭✭✭✭Amz

Infini there really was no need for you to drag up the last two threads which were slipping into obscurity.

Also your sig violates the signature rules.

Not necessarily. I've PM both cloud and DeVore on a different matter but they didn't say anything about my sig. Besides it's within the height limit and there are some other sigs on the other forums I'm usually on that are as long as mine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,330 ✭✭✭✭Amz

    Width: 500px
    Height: 120
    Size: 77.12 kB (78968 bytes)

This violates the sig rules on two counts.

The argument that other people have oversized sigs etc. isn't valid. It doesn't make your sig ok.

Seriously if you're going to spam gathering cards everywhere at least use ones that make sense.

You remind me of another young, new, fresh spammer we had once. His name was azezeil and he turned gay. So let that be a lesson.

AH lads will ye stop. There aint any need for this violence in such a friendly community..

Use some logic in your posts logic mate ^_^ :) ::D

Anyway, Moriarty does close a lot of threads, but there is perfect reason for them and its boring saying "Topic Closed. Moved to ..." etc. a bit of sarcasm adds a bit of humour :D

I love reading the posts he comes out with!

I find Moriarty's sarcasm very refreshing - I followed the broadband forum avidly for nearly a year before ever joining up to Boards and posting. (I was seeking BB information before eventually opting for my chosen provider when they rolled out)

Broadband is a tough forum and tempers regularily flare. The sarcasm adds humour to the whole affair and puts everything in (humorous) perspective.

People may criticise Moriarty's sarcasm (which I do not), but his moderatorship otherwise has been flawless.

    Keep up to good work!
