Laptop feedback

    Hello all,
I'm getting a new laptop for work soon, and I'm looking for any advice / feedback you may have. Budget ~ 2K ex VAT.

I will need a fairly powerful machine to run an application server and database from. It will spend probably 75% of its life at my desk in work, but I will need to be able to bring it offsite for client demos etc. Thus, size / weight and battery life are not that important.

In addition I want WiFi, DVD burner, wide screen, yadda yadda. Bluetooth / Firewire are nice to have.

I've narrowed my search down to two brands: Dell (Precision range) and Toshiba (Tecron range).

Has anyone here had experience with these product ranges...reliablility / performance etc.

Also, if anyone knows of any other brands (HP) with decent, high-end laptops I'd appreciate some advice.

    Thanks in advance :)

    familiar with the latitude range
been using different models for years
    got d600 last Decamber
has all the bells you mentioned except widescreen and firewire
its not bad. keyboard is a little sponge or maybe its my particular one.
appart from that is a good alrounder.

Meh - any machine I get will have an ethernet card built in...can't see much need for a docking station, since I'm going more for the desktop-replacement laptop, rather than the so-small-you-could-stuff-it-down-your-pants type.

    Edit: I suck at speling ( :p )
