Thats the thing though. They were not brave. Ok, by all means it was a reasonable 6 nations for us. But there was a definite dead feeling about the team. Perhaps the team has been over hyped and that is all that has happened.

Last year our backs were magical in some cases :) This year they did not stand out so much. I can't see us doing any better next year unless some changes are made. Or at least some rotation. Maybe teams just know what to expect from us and close it down first chance possible

Actually this Six nations has been the near death of the Irish Squad that we know, it will probably the last 6 nations they all play with each other. On the contrary it has laid the foundation for such teams as wales and scotland to become the next top class teams as their youngsters continue to improve. Not to forget France either with their young and talent backs.

This was our year and we simply didn't measure up.

We don't have the player pool to feel confident about rebuilding the side. Everyone realises that its time to bring in fresh blood but there really is little sign of many really talented players coming through the ranks.

Will do well to be in the top 3 nations over the next few years.

our team is about to break up now. BoD publically admitted as much. The rebuilding process wont be pretty.

England - Are a year ahead of us and they have far more players available so you would expect them to be a lot stronger (at home to us as well) next year.

Wales -on fire need to say no more

France - always able to turn on the flair, we have yet to beat them in a number of years - say no more

Scotland - we shoud be able to beat

    Italy - as above

I cant really see a team coming together within 12 months with a negative cautious coach.

And i dont know if much will be learnt on the tour out in Japan

Perhaps....i think we were unlucky today but that was not the reason the team failed....i just think all the passion has been taken out of the team by the coaches.

oh and you should drop the text speak as it doesn't go down to well on Boards.... :)

What about Tommy Bowe? came on and scored a try? Shaun Payne great Utility Back? Leamy? It's not the lack of players its the lack of vision from a bad coach that is the problem, Ireland is playing a "paint by numbers " game and as the results show it don't work.

yeah the lack of experimentation that goes into the irish team is strange. o'conner, the only new name for this 6N seemed to be the only player who looked like he wanted it, along with Drico was good as usual.

who knows maybe we need a new coach along with some new blood, but i still cant see us wining it next year

in terms of young players i think Declan Kidney has tried his best this year at leinster. He has blooded alot of young players for example jennings, Dillon, lewis, McAllister, potts and now hes giving heaslip a chance. I know this has resulted with some very inexperienced celtic league teams but it should hopefully pay off next year or later.

I though all the subs were excellent when they came on yesterday especially miller and humphreys. wouldnt have minded seeing guy easterby on for a while cause stringer was pretty crap too.

No matter how bad stringer was he couldn't be any worse than GE.

Well actually ive seen GE quite bit this year and i think he gets far more critisism than he deserves. Anyway this is the root of irelands problem, people are far too quick to judge rather than give players a chance. im thinkin that Guy Easterby cant be any worse than stringer. From wat i have seen for leinster he is a more intelligent player and can read a game better ie. when its the right time to break himself.

We will have no chance of winning the 6 Nations next year. Face it, this was their year and they failed.....miserably. They could not handle the pressure of being favourites to win. It's going to be a few years now until we can rebuild a new squad. While there are some potentially good replacements for the older players who I now expect to retire very soon, but theres far too many who may/will be retiring......Corrigan, O'Kelly, Humphries (perhaps), Casey, Byrne.........but the problem is, O'Sullivan has not been giving these players international experience. It's going to take a while, but I firmly believe that when we have rebuilt our team we'll be a much stonger team!

it really isnt that bad, well........

what annoys me more about this year more so than other years were we were getting the wooden spoon we do have the players to win the grand slam, just not enough heart and now with hindsight bad selection. ireland seems to play well when they are underdogs and you dont stand much of a chance at the grand slam if thats the case

so maybe next year it could just happen
