    Coffee
Tea is the Master, the Great Healer, the Light and the Way, Giver Of Life, Lord Of Us All.

Up to 5 cups a day, although my intake is erratic at best.

    Coffee
Coffee is nice but there's something more satisfying than a strong cup of tea, small amount of milk, one sugar.

If I had to choose it's coffee, filter, not instant. Java or something stronger.
Ah there's this place I stop into on the way to work that does this french hazelnut coffee. Great stuff.

Love a cup of tea with breakfast or after a few smokes in a mates, but coffee fuels my day...

Fantastic question this and one I've been known to rant on about for hours at a time (I'm a student; so sue me!!!!).
Well I was an absolute coffee mega-addict until I heard that it ages you prematurely. Stopped drinking it completely then and now binge on tea. Tea is a whole lot more classier than coffee anyway. You see someone in a coffeehouse order coffee and you're thinking 'office jockey who didn't get enough sleep' but see someone get a tea and you're thinking 'that guy is gonna go places' :D:D:D

    Coffee - 1 cup a day

Tea is seriously uncool, unsophisticated and tastes horrible.

    Coffee
I drink too much tea, sometimes 15 cups a day. Can't stand coffee. I love the smell of it, but every time I taste it, it makes me want to puke.

Ha! tipped the vote in tea's favour... but seriously, i drink too much tea... Barry's all the way

    Coffee
Barry's Gold Blend, stewing in the pot for a good ten minutes before pouring. Fie on you who wouldst merely stick a bag in the cup.

Coffee, coffee, coffee. I can't stand tea! All I need is a strong cup of coffee, tiny bit of milk, no sugar and I'm sorted for ..... whatever.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,928 ✭✭✭✭rainbow kirby

Coffee. I don't really drink much of either though, I prefer cold drinks. My coffee has to be black, very strong and very sweet. Double espresso with lots of sugar = yum.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 50 ✭✭little_metal_chick

    Coffee
Tea is yummy with some hot pie and cream :p . I would go for tea any day. Coffee is way to strong and has a sick taste. You can eat yummy Mc. Vitees biscuts with tea but not coffee. :D. Coffee is good to wake you up I do agree, but it is just to yuck! for me.

    Coffee
I appreciate both of them. Probably have about two cups of each a day. No sugar, drop of milk...

    Watching Father Ted right now...
"I take a cheese and onion one and a salt and vinegar one and i eat them both at the same time"

Now i am wondering what tea and coffee taste like at the same time.

    Coffee
I like the odd espresso after a heavy meal but I'm a total tea fanatic. I always have a bunch of different types - these days I'm mostly drinking Earl Grey, Lady Earl Grey and green tea with jasmine. Mmmm! Such goodness.

I think we need a tea forum here...

    Coffee
I can't take coffee cos' it tastes terrible to me. I take my lovely tea with no milk (cos' the milk negates the anti-carcinogenic properties of the tea) and a god bit of sugar (and some cold water to take the temperature down). I might drink between 0 and 9 cups per week although ironically I've had like 3 cup today alone.

I prefere cold drinks but tea is handy when you don't want to go to the shop and aren't in the mood for juice or milk.

    tea by the barrel full!

odd time coffee but it has to loaded with sugar and tons of coffee, needs a kick ya know :P

I like both but tea rules for me.... Barry's Red label mmmmmmm.... :D

Drink about 6-7 cups a day depending on what I'm doing and where I am. I'm off travelling around the world in a few weeks for a year and Thailand is my first destination and there's no way I'm leaving without a big red box of Barry's - I've learnt the hard way before! :p

    Coffee
Started making tea from leaves rather than bags recently. Tastes better imo.

Drinking Earl Grey I go from Harrods at the moment :) and Bewely's Breakfast tea

Anybody else a fan of Green tea?

Never a fan of coffee. Always thought though, that the fact I've never drunk it, if I ever needed to stay up for two days I could just drink a few cups of coffee. Keeping my coffee drinking for emergencies

    Coffee
Tea. Green and black. Mostly green. No milk and a drop of honey. Up to 10 cups a day. The trick I found to achieve the best taste is to filter the water first.

Agree with Hugh Hefner about the anti-carcinogenic properties. The Japanese smoke like chimneys and have a way lower rate of lung cancer. Along with their diet the oul' green tea must have a lot to do with it.

I did read somewhere before that the tannins in tea slow the absorbtion of iron into the body. Which may be bad in heavy users like myself.

Coffee I never got into. Looooove the smell. Can't stand the taste. Actually not the initial taste, it's the aftertaste that gets to me.

Not a bad idea. I know lots of people who drink coffee every day for "energy" when in fact they're forcing their system to produce energy in short bursts, tiring themselves out overall.

I'm also a fan of green tea btw.

Coffee might age you prematurely, but tea also contains tannic acid which can promote the onset of arthritis
"13. Soda, coffee and tea, besides having adverse effects on the kidneys, also attack and destroy the natural sodium cushioning. Although caffeine is harmful to the body, tannic acid is the culprit that is detrimental to the joints."

As for my choice, I HATE both tea and coffee and never drink either...
I choose Atari Jaguar... a bit lumpy and cornery but definitely more fun

    Coffee
Evilution. What are the mechanisms that would cause coffee to prematurely age you? Never heard that one before.

Kêrmêttê here's one that disputes the arthritis link(in one form at least)
    http://www.farsinet.com/hottea/medicalbenefits.html
and as for caffeine being harmful to the body, it would all depend on the dosage. Many things are beneficial in small doses but poisonous in larger. Vit C, Vit A would be examples. Some studies have even found that nicotine seems to have some health benefits with regard to alzheimers and parkinsons and more.

Not really a tea fan. Would normally drink 2 coffees per day, but thanks to the Leaving Cert, I'm currently averaging 8

    Coffee
The best quote about coffee: "I like it black as night and sweet as sin"

Anyway I drink coffee in the morning to give me a bit of a kick on my way to college but otherwise I'm really more of a tea person. Me and mum are currently drinking Barry's Gold Blend (recently voted best tea by British tea experts), Fortnum and Mason's Royal Blend which is lovely and F&M'S Darjeeling. It's nice to have a choice in the evening.

I also totally agree with Sarky that leaf tea tastes far superiour to bag tea

Spoilsport. There goes another tipple. Is there actually anything safe to drink thats not water these days? Even Cranberry juice tastes suspiciously evil.
