    Hello,
I'm looking for a tv card for my computer.
I don't know much about them, like what is the main difference between one from another... I'm not sure what specs to look out for.
Can anyone recommend a good one for me?

I'll be using it to watch sky digital on my pc and want to be able to record programs also.

    Any suggestions for me?

if i got an average tv card and just downloaded good software for it, would that work? Or would the software only work with the tv card that comes with it?

You have two options - internal (PCI card) and external (USB). If you are not comfortable opening up your computer, that latter would probably be the best option.

I have the Hauppauge PVR2 USB. It takes anything you can throw at it connection wise, and has a remote control. It also has an FM radio.

You connect your Sky box via a Scart lead that has the three (red, white and yellow) connectors coming out of it. The picture is perfect, but there is a noticable delay of about 1 second (i.e. you press channel 501 - it takes about a second to appear on the PC).

The software that comes with this card looks quite dated. Having said that, it does what it says on the tin and allows you to record programs. You could also set up a proper PVR using software such as this. It's a little flaky, but it is getting there.

I was thinking of getting a tvcard a couple of weeks back, simply because I can't fit my tv and my pc into the same space in my room.

Only real consideration here is space, all I want to connect is a cat's ears. Assuming though, that the aerial would interfere with the pc?

Can you get a TV-card/lcd tvbox combo? Does that make sense ;) What i mean is a box to turn your LCD into a tv (while PC is off) but its twined up with a tv card for recording programs.
