As im moving i want to cancel my sky sub, but dont want to leave the 'rents with nothing on there. The last time i called sky they said i wanted to get the most basic package think it was 24 or something..but that was without the irish channels. I then had to pay 28.50 each month for the irish ones. Any sign of them going free to air or something? A bit mad paying for them i think...

No chance of that i would say. FTA that is.

If you want the channels for free stick up an aerial.

Its really a waste of time getting Sky unless you get the family package which includes RTE.

Honestly don't get get Sky unless you want at least the family package.
You will just be paying for Horse s**t if you do.

If you want the cheaper option get a free to air dish. All the news channels. A few others. All the BBC channels are on that. And there is a possibility of ITV joining them. Stick up an aerial and get the Irish channels. And away you go.

i'm sure there are plenty who will agree with me on this point..

Yup, jimbob more or less has it in a nutshell.

Cancel the subscription, continue to receive BBC1, 2, 3, news channels etc. and put up an aerial for Irish TV channels.

mmhm thanks. Ive been with sky for a long time, used to have movie world package but got rid of it after a few months, waste of money. Nothing ever really good on it. I'll just cancel me subscription :) thanks

Of course, there is a SMALL possibility that Sky will offer you a reduced rate for 3 months in an effort to keep you subscribing.

I tried to cancel my UK sub in December then was offered a reduced deal, so now have Family Pack for £13stg. Oddly, the tactic may have worked, because atm, I don't want to cancel! :|

aye when i was between subscriptions, id often get a call offering 3 months, the whole lot of channels for X amount of euro, a good deal cheaper than the normal rate. I think it tookt it up once and then cancelled again after the 3 months were up :)
