    OK,
I noticed a lump on one of my testicles 2 weeks ago so I went to the GP straight away (as anyone else who finds one should) and he sent me to a specialist who I saw this morning.
The specialist said that I'll have to get a biopsy of the testicle done on Monday and this has me worried.

What exactly does a biopsy consisit of ? I know it's a tissue sample they take to run tests on to see if the lump is benign or malignant but it's the procedure that worries me.
Is it just taking a small sample with a needle or is it more than that ? (Didn't ask the specialist as only began to think about it on way home).

Phone your specialist or your gp as they really are the only people qualified to answer. Hope all goes well for you though.

A friend of mine had this done recently. He said it was no big deal.

A very important thing is not to be afraid to ask questions to doctors. You may feel that you are troubling them or that you don't feel you should be asking, but.....

Just Ask! They will explain EVERYTHING you need to know.....

Don't phone them, wait until you go in and then ask all the questions you need answered. They will explain the procedure fully, but clarify anything you are uncertain of.

The local anaesthetic will be most uncomfortable, and it is just a wee sting.....

    You'll be grand!

A Biopsy is a small tissue sample taken and sent to the lab where a pathologist looks at it under a microscope to determine if it is benign or malignant and to grade it. They may add in more tests if needed. They use a wide bore needle to suck out the tissue to inspect. this is not the most comfortable of proceedings, so they will give you local anaesthetic to numb the area before they start.
