    Folks

Just upgraded my p.c with an abit ic7-g mbd p4 3.0ghz
the prob now is that when it boots up and completes
POST the system reboots. When it boots back up to the
safe mode screen (win xp) and I select safe mode
    the same thing happens, reboot.
Have tried chaging bios settings to optimized and also
I have another hdd with XP on it and this does exactly
the same.Is there a bios setting that I'm missing ?
Is there any way around this without having to reinstall
    XP again.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Ok the problem is you cant just install a new MB without installing the drivers first. Easiest solution, clean install of XP.

2nd option: Rebuild your old system e.g. Install the old MB and processor - boot the system - Go to device manager - Uninstall all system devices (DO NOT REBOOT) - Install the new MB drivers there on the CD you got with it - once installed shutdown the system (DO NOT REBOOT)

Now Install your new MB and it should boot OK.

    Cheers joe

I thought loading the new mbd drivers was the way to
go but I couldn't get to safe mode to do it.
The problem with you're suggestion of reinstalling the
orig mbd is that it's faulty (hence the upgrade).
I was hoping that there was some other way of getting
    the p.c to boot up.
But I have the idea now.

    Regards
    Liam.
