has anyone any info on Photek, ol Rupert has been very quite of late.
I seem to remember reading that he was in California recording a hip-hop record but that was over a year ago.

he has a tune called thunder on the full cycle cross collaborations album, with dj die and holly g, its wobbly rubbish, he moved to la to live with his wife, released a hip hop album project called do or die with choc tiara and ty, he did additional scoring for the italian job remake, he learned to play the french horn and his tune on the last metalheadz album is basically him doing just that for eight minutes over a two step break and a wobbly bassline....

his collaboration with tech itch and teebee is being hotly tipped, as is his collaboration with teebee, man down is the name of the former, mercury the latter, baltimore and the flip side collaboration with fabio no joke was out on photek recordinghs recently, and his new label tekdbz has released photek's long lost babylon vip [its wicked] and some tune from newcomers system noise... oh and dont hold your breath over the dj crystl comeback on photek recordings, since the let it roll remix theres been nothing but silence. either way, the cerebral intricate photek seems to have been replaced by a man who makes cocaine fuelled aggro noisy stuff, he sounds more like dillinja these days than the photek of yore [which would have been cool maybe eight years ago when dillinja was still really good and not just lashing out tunes designed for his own system that sound crap on any rig that isnt the valve sound system]

most of those tunes are still lying around selectah by the way, baltimore isnt bad, but the rest of them arent really up to much compared to what he was doingf a while ago... opening with a bad company tune at the deaf festival a few years back pretty much shows where he's at these days you know?

He's produced a track on the new Nine Inch Nails album, and he's remixing the first single "The Hand That Feeds"

cool! just picked up knitevision for a paltry two euro down in selectah, and bagged the peshay and decoder mixes of rings around saturn.... old photek ROCKS - modus operandi has to be one of the best albums of the nineties imo....

if you're looking for people who are still doing stuff in that kind of a style, less aggressive and more sinister and rolling dark funky stuff you should check out fanu, pieter k, polska, equinox, fracture & neptune, seba, skitty, paradox & nucleus, alpha omega, offshore recordings, bassbin recordings, inperspective recordings... theres a lot more of that sound around lately than there has been in the last few years, people are getting bored with loopy cartoon bassline steppers and angry robot killing your children stuff, about time too!
