Belts left sticking out

Is it my imagination or has this become fashionable recently. This is where a person buckles their belt but doesn't tuck in the part of the belt which is unused and instead leaves it hanging loose/sticking out. I think it looks daft myself - as if the wearer has been to the toilet and has forgotten to buckle their belt properly afterwards. First person I saw with their belt like this this was Nicky Hambleton-Jones, the presenter of Ten Years Younger on channel 4.

I wear a skater belt.. They're meant to be left hanging out. Looks good imo

This is not just a current trend. There were guys doing the same thing in my year when I was in 3rd year, and that's going back to 1992.. I think you just tend to notice it more every now and then.
No big deal IMO,.. they grow out of it ;)

    Why?

Because if he doesn't the skaters will kick him out of the club.
Wooden beads is pushing it but a TUCKED IN BELT?
    Madness.

If you have big chunky belts and they don't fit in your belt loops(yes, I know, defeats the purpose but oh well) then you don't really have a choice. There's nowhere to tuck them into.

it works if you have great fashion sense...
eg today i am wearing cream long sleeve tshirt and green tshirt over it - i have a green and cream belt, belt hangs down after it has been looped thru, therefore coordination and style.

i dont like the term skater belt but its used to describe a canvas belt with a metal buckle that has like a roller thingy to keep it in place....

My belt hangs out 'cause it isn't quite long enough to get to the next loop... it's not my fault. And anyway, if I leave it hanging all the way out, the metal bit on the end (this is a skater belt we are talking about) bruises my knees... o.O

No you're thinking of a different kind of belt, the skater belt looks identical but costs 5 or 6 times the price.

    Getting?

(I didn't know what a skater belt was either.)

Mine's just a canvas belt with two semi circle loops at the end. I've looked for belts with the same thing for tightening and can't find any. It's cool, cause it's mad comfy and to tighten just tug the excess, or press a loop and it's looser.

Sangre, I'm too cool for your nonsense.. I'm hip to the beat, and you're a square. :|

Leather Diesel belt, about 5 years old, the tail is kept snug under the loop of the jeans.

I don't like things hanging out of me. They get caught and they get torn.

Buy a thinner belt? The logic is overwhelming. You're all too coool for me.

I think chunky belts are kinda cute. I've managed to find two minis that actually cater for this fashion meaning I won't have to keep tugging them up to prevent my ass showing which is most excellent. Although they do fit well enough for me not to need to loop my belt in at all... We'll see.
