Grundig Radio - "Safe" mode

    Hi all,
I have a 1996 opel corsa and today managed to leave the lights on all day while at work so killed the battery. Got it jump started and engine is fine now but the radio (a Grundig 200) is showing 'safe' and I cant seem to get rid of that. I have the code for unlocking the radio but I just cant seem to get to the stage of where you type that in. I saw one website which advises holding down 'as' when you turn on radio but that doesn't seem to change the 'safe' from the display. Anyone got any ideas? Any help gratefully appreciated as I have a 2 hour round trip to work daily which will be very boring with no radio!
    Thanks.
