Hmmmmmmmm... £12,000 for an amp and there's no close up pic of the front of the thing?

There's lots of people waiting to see the inside of the thing to see the components. £12k for an amp is a bit excessive.

Aye, it was Hendrix that was the genius, not his gear. 12K worth of old amp ain't gonna make some fumblefingered twat sound like Hendrix... according to research carried out under laboratory conditions.

    From the auction:
Q: If I buy this amp, will it make me play like Yngwie Malmsteen?? Good Luck with the auction. :)
A: Maybe if you try hard enough! thanks

    Some people...

Jimi's broken amp eh? Nice collectable but with the treatment Jimi used to give amps at gigs I'd say it's fairly wrecked tbh, I think i'll leave it for some old rich dude that wants to jump around his mansion playing E7#9 all day and screaming "Foxy Lady" ha ha....

Although with the incentive that it will make me play like Yngwie if I were to "try hard enough" you never know the AIB might be gettin a call :P

    Fusion

Actually, the amp works. And there's lots of people thinking that it's Paul Allen (Microsoft's co-founder) that's gonna be bidding on it for his Jimi Hendrix museum in Seattle.

There is no way of getting proof of it's history buecause of the fact that no records were actually kept from that time. The serial numbers indicate that the amp is approxomately a 1965 build, and that all the marking's are 'as near as damn it' defenitely a hendrix owned head.

*gets out stencil and white paint* Now where did I leave that f ucked old Marshall Head?

the seller is saying "if you win this amp such and such". Win? WIN? i don't rate spending 12 grand on something winning it!!!!!!

If I was a millionaire I'd get it. Probably wouldn't use it much, just for schlonging around the house naked with lots of horny women throwing their panties at me while playing "Killing Floor".

Hendrix must have gone through loads of amps, he always maxed them out at 10 (or 11 if yer a Tap fan).

Why would anyone sell something like that?! It's just wrong. You keep it and treasure it until eventually you're buried/burnt with it!

Nah, you feedback through it and then play one fantastic bend, the bend, and then you cleave it in two with your strat and set fire to the wreckage.

That, my friends, is Rock 'n' Roll :p

What would happen if you put that amp in your bathroom though... :p

You'd be able to use the shower to put out the fire if things got out of hand ;)

Trust me man, that bass tone is bitchin, it's feckin HUGE! You should've heard the walls rattle :D

It wouldn't be the walls I'd be worried about rattling tbh... Brown Notetastic :p

    Oh

What's the deal with all the "fruit" looking stuff sitting in front of the amp?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

    Fruit?

I had the amp sitting on a rather colourful wolly blanket/rug type of thing, if that's what you mean. It's the small things that make the difference between 10 and 11, old boy!

Can you please change your tag line to "I Sold My Bowl For Rock 'n Roll"?

Meh, either way it's a bit fruity :p My new amp goes to 11... Or close enough. Can't hear the drummer so that's always good. Pah, who needs Hendrix's amp

My new amp doesn't have numbers... It transcends 11!

Who needs Hendrix's amp indeed. For that kinda money I could get an assortment of amps and cabs and have the ultimate rig! That £12k works out at about €17k, so methinks I should get:

    Triple Rectifier - €2850
    Road King - €3800
    Mark IV Combo - €2800
    Lone Star - €2300
Triaxis - €2600 (Just to piss off Feylya)
    2 One Hundred Power Amp - €2060
    Rectifier 4x12 - €1250
    Road King 4x12 - €1300
    Rectifier 2x12 - €800

Then, I lock it all away in a soundproof cavern somewhere, install a bar, and invite a few very, very select heads around.
