Blimmin' 'eck, but does this software ROCK or what!

Just thought I'd put a few words down to highly recommend what is, without a doubt, THE best web authoring package out there. Microsoft and Adobe et al. don't come near smile.gif

dunno i thought Fireworks 4 sucked a bit compared to 3.
lots of different things done different ways.
its pain in the **** trying to figure out how to do stuff that was just a click and a key shortcut in 3 and now requires a degree (or a manual heh)...

Yea, I went to the macromedia thing in Vicar St. last year about Ultradev etc.

It's good for muppets. If you can't code, and you need to get a site together with dynamic content and stuff, use it.

It's more than just that, but yeah- fair enough.

It's good whether you can code or not - makes a lot of menial tasks a helluva lot faster.

I can code, but I wouldn't be without this excellent software package.

for some reason i thought ultradev was the whole suite of macromedia products.
    what does it do exactly?

Yup, this rocks, I especially like the Flash Buttons.
The layout view is really cool, and the HTML editor is Homesite! What more do you need?

How much is the full version?

Oh forgot to mention the cool little O'Reilly Reference Window. HTML, CSS and Javascript reference right there on the screen. Bloody fantastic.

Kali: UltraDev is an advanced version of Dreamweaver with all the functionality of Drumbeat built in - i.e.: database functions, ability to create applications using ASP, JSP and CFML. It's also got certain Fireworks and Flash functions built in, but it is just the one application, albeit a bloody brilliant one, and not the full suite of products.

Enygma: the full version, according to Cre@teOnline is £469, - the upgrade version is £234. In contrast, the standard edition of Dreamweaver 4 (without ASP/Database stuff) is £270 - or £117 for the upgrade version. Those are sterling prices, and there's a 30-day trial version on the Macromedia web site (for which there's already a patch available on Astalavista wink.gif )

    Cheers,
