Ok here is my problem, iv a friend coming over from Austria....shes a good friend and is staying in my place for 10 days. 3 of which my parents will be home and then they are buggering off for holidays in my house in france. Problem is that what the feck am i going to do with her for 10 days??????

I tried think of going off to cork or dingle or galway or something like that but iv no car (doing my test in a couple of months) and she can drive but shes 19 and she is too young to rent one. I was thinking there is only a number of things u can do in a city before u start needing a car. So to me those options are buggered. Then what else is there???

Im lost to any ideas? am i just blind and just dont have an imagination or what? i entertain ppl all the time but im stumped on this one. I know of lots of places in cities to stay in but is there really much to do for our age group??

    Ideas pls! :o

    Cheers

If you're sexing her you don't even need to leave the house (except those three days your parents are home).

What are you looking for tourist-y things or just fun stuff?

well yeah fun stuff to do.....cinema and bollox stuff like that is fine....iv a enough imagination for that...but i mean stuff that would be interesting and different???

sex is just something that will happen regardless of where we are.....home or anywhere else. so its really not an issue. Not for now! :p

Well I am assuming you have cash of some sorts. Why not get a train down to Kilkenny and spend a couple of days down there.

Maybe you can use her visit to do a touristy trip around Dublin and see the places that we all miss but the tourists get to see. Also you could check out whats on in the theatre or concert hall and make a night out of that. It all depends on your finances and what exactly your interests are but there are plenty of gigs going on around Dublin. Maybe check out some of the excellent bands that played at the last few boardstocks I am sure some of them will have gigs around Dublin when she is over.

Maybe you can give us the dates she is over and we can post up any events we know happening around then?

Tonnes of stuff to do in the city!

    Museum's, Art Galleries galore.

The Splash tour, Guiness Hops Store, Dublin Bus Tour, Literary Walking tours, Wax Works.

Dig out a history book and give her a unique tour of Dublin, start with the GPO- tell her about 1916, bring her the the monument at O'Connell Bridge, show her the bullet holes etc.

The Zoo..... look for deer in the park,

    Farmleigh House, The Aras,

There's lots, take her to the abbey before its knocked down, take the dart to bray and bring her the the Aquarium, take her to Dun Laoghaire.

    Walk the Sumit in Howth.

Take the 44bus to Johnny Foxes, lots of Muisic venus. Picknick in powerscourt. Comedy in Dublin pus most nights of the week somewhere, Sugar club on fridays.

There are lots of things, prepare, research, get the In Dublin and other listings magazines!!

    Good luck.

go to all the musems and art galleries they are free into.

or go do the heritage sites you can buy a pass that lets you into all of them,
most are on good busroutes and the parks are nice for strolling in, or bring a picnic.

Head to Heuston station and get a train to Galway for a couple of days, it's small enough to get around on foot and no trip to Ireland is complete without Galway ;)

first you will need a dice! and a map(just incase) some extra spending cash and two rambler tickets!
find a lesure plex and go inside!
get drunk(if you both drink) and go play quazer lazer/bowling until the first bus get the first bus that comes your way,(no matter where it goes) get off at last stop. throw the dice even numbers are right odd are left! and throw. keep this up till you see another bus(stop at a shop for breaky) do the same. when in a certain check your map and see where you are and see how far you have travelled!

its a good laugh and you can keep it up all day!

Try the Dublin Bus Ghost Tour - it's cheesy but quite fun.

Also have a look at www.irishrail.ie - they do really excellent deals on hotel/return train fares for little mini-breaks.

no my suggestion was the best.
ill tell u wat, buy the tickets. if she doesnt wanna go, ill take them off ur hands, free of charge! win/win situation.

Head to Killarney for a day (or more?).

Booked five days in advance on Irishrail.ie, a day return (arriving 12ish, leaving 18:40ish) will set you back €20 each. Enough time to do the lakes, the national park, town centre and all that.
