I reckon finding a shop that does them is the first hurdle, I bought mine in GAME on grafton street, but they've long since stopped selling that sort of thing.
The last place I spotted wheel/pedal rigs was in PC World in Blanchardstown.
I've heard good things about the Logitech wheels from reading other threads on this board.
I use a Microsoft Sidewinder one, but it's one of the older models and the driver support for 2k/XP is pretty buggy... I bought it new in 2003 aswell, plenty of time for them to sort out decent drivers for it ffs  (the newer sidewinders are probably fine though.)
I'd say have a look at the websites of these manufacturers and get the low down on what wheels are newer/older than the others... so if the shop doesn't have the one reccomended here, you at least know what the major players are offering.

The current logitech momo seems to be the best of a bad lot, although it is a shadow of the old momo.
Game appear to be doing their own brand of wheel at the moment, and the microsoft wheel may still be in stock. The microsoft isint a bad wheel, and it will take years of abuse.

I dread to think what will happen when my old momo(leather one..as shown) breaks.

If you can get a reconditioned one of these, or a good one of ebay, its the way to go.

dose the momo wheel rotate through 900 degrees? Also has there been any solution to the age old problem of pedals slipping since I bought my Jordan steering wheel for the PS1

The momo i posted has 270* lock, all thats needed in a racecar.

On the slipping pedals, i use 2 30cm pieces of carpet gripper(the wood with all the little spikes) attached with sticky pads, works great. if u have wood/tiles etc, use the sticky pads directly on the pedals->floor.

I had a "thrustmaster f1 pro" a few years back, which was excellent, but had no ff, and started playing up, as I abused it a bit I guess.

I splashed out around 2 years ago and got an "act-labs force rs" wheel and the performance pedals, (includes a clutch pedal !) and I also got the GPL shifter.
These are all usb, and work pretty well. The force-feedback is simply amazing.
It wasnt cheap, mind you, and was mail-order.

As for support, I broke off one of the gear-shift paddles, and was able to order a replacement set (from canada) for around 6 or 7 dollars.

The pedal board is quite big and has 4 soft plasticy bits on teh base which stick very well to my laminate wood floor. I guess they would also stick well into the carpet, as the lower edges are like splines. Haven't tried that though.

The only continuing problem I have is that it seems to lose calibration on the accelerator pedal, and I havent figured out why.
Sometimes full pedal travel will only give around 80-85% of the accelerator.
Usually simply a case of unplugging the pedals usb plug and plugging it back in again fixes it.

    worth a look for reference

oops. looks like its discontinued !

    oh well.

    Cheers.
