    Lo y'all,

I want to buy a couple of domains and a wee site which will help expand the minds of some of you but i have a wee problem.

When you register a domain they make your billing address viewable on the whois. Is there anyway around that? I.E. I don't want my address to be viewed online by little ****ers like m1rv.

    Any ideas?

    Ta!

I don't think your allowed use PO Boxes. The name and address is there for a reason.

If you're from Ireland (which I assume you are), then the registrars need your permission to give out your details because of the Data Protection Act.

That's assuming they want to do business in Ireland.

If push came to shove they can just refuse you business and tell you to get a domain from .ie instead due to legal reasons.

If you register with www.names4ever.com you can type any old address you want, and change it later on or take it out altogether (for reference, see the entry for a recent site of mine, char-el.com).

A hundred quid. Wait until January though, An Post have a very odd way of handling this - if you rent the mailbox now, they'll send you another bill in January for next year. So you'll only get two an' a half months for your ton if you rent now.

Strange but true. Or it was when I first set up anyway.

One and the same. Although I'm highly offended at the "muppet" slur. I think that qualifies as defamation of character. You'll be hearing from my solicitor... smile.gif
