    Hello all,

I have been wearing classes since I was 2 and am thinking about going for lenses. Ive never had them before and as such Im a little lost with them. Basically are they comfatable/ expensive/ or should I just go for a new pair of shades? I would like to get the Lazar eye surgery but I dont have the money.....but I do have a medical card - can contact lenses be got on it?

To be honest Ive never known what it was like to be "normal" and am kind of keen on trying them out. Ive noticed theres lots of different kinds from cheap ones to quite dear ones to ones that last a day to some that last a month....so what do u all think on the issue?

Could any ppl who wear lenses / classes give me some advice?

    Cheers

You should definitely get contacts. How old are you? I never actually wore glasses except for the telly and the blackboard in school (too vain!) so I got contacts when I was 15. At the time they lasted for a year and I only wore them at weekends. Then as I got older I wore them more. I even had brown ones, they were cool as my eyes are blue.

After that I got monthly disposables and I think they're great. They are exactly half the price of dailies as far as I remember. The first time you put the contacts in, you will be conscious of them, but not in a bad way. You'll be so busy looking at yourself in the mirror and everything around you that you won't care anyway!

I had laser surgery last year and it's the bees knees. Have to go back and have one eye adjusted maybe, but I'm happy with the results.

Edited to say: If you're on VHI you can claim back a certain amount over a two year perios or something, but it's not much. Other than that you have to foot the bill. But I think it's worth it. I don't think anyone needs to wear glasses in this day in age, unless they like them as a fashion statement thing. No harm in trying them anyway. Specsavers are good.
