Has anyone ever had a dream that they are talking to someone close who passed away a long time ago? I had an aunt who I was very close to. She died when i was 16 but I had a dream about 2 years ago that I was having a conversation with her. Saying we thought you were dead and spoke to her telling her all what had happened in family life since she passed on. The dream was very real. Not scary very calm. I cannot remember what she spoke back to me only what I said to her. But when I woke I was very confused as to what went on as the dream was so real. Can this dream mean anything or was it just my mind doing overtime

I had the exact same dream a few months back, barring the personal details of course, in mine it was a close friend who'd died a few years back. The weird thing about it was that he didn't seem to realise he was dead. We kind of just bumped into each other and he started talking as if we'd seen each other yesterday. I tried explaining to him that he was dead and shouldn't be standing there talking to me and he thought I was just taking the p*ss. Given that he was standing there talking to me I can kind of understand his point of view ;) .

I'm not sure what it means, I didn't really think about it much at the time. Thinking about it now I'd guess it's your subconcious creating a kind of 'saying goodbye' scene, but maybe someone who knows more about dreams or communicating with the dead can come up with something better.

they're just dreams. quite common for people to relive dramatic events in their lives through dreaming. extremly vivid dreams will always carry a greater sense of reality with them, by their very nature.

there is nothing paranormal about these dreams.

I had a dream of my father about 3 months after he passed. I can honestly say I didn't believe too much in the afterlife at the time, or at least didn't give it any thought.
The dream was very real, in fact when I saw him in it and he said "hello" I got such a shock it took the wind out of me and I woke up with a jolt.
I was sitting up in bed resting on my elbows wondering what the hell was that, and on my heart no lie, I heard my fathers voice, he just called my name, it wasn't in my head, it sounded like he was in the room. He said go back (as in go back asleep) so I did, the minute I lay down I was back in the place where I had seen him and he said "bet you didn't expect to see me here".
I can honestly say I didn't :) but it felt amazing to be able to talk to him again.
I know we talked for a while, but I don't remember much about what we spoke about, I just remember the feeling that it was real.

So I wake up the next day and I'm still completely overwhelmed by the dream, I fone my mother and tell her about it.
As I'm telling her she cuts across me to say that my sister (who had seen spirits most of her life) had just called to say the same thing, she described her dream exactly as I did, we were both described the same place and the same situation. Was about that time I realised it was more than a regular dream.

I had one other dream following with my father in that felt as real, but many more which haven't been as significant.
I had one the other night where I saw him, but it wan't the same kind of dream at all.

its your minds way of getting what it wants. you needed to talk to your aunt(being close to her you probaly felt calm with her) when she past on you felt you could do this , so you didn't. your subconsious needed her so if formed her in a dream. just be happy that you where calm and happy at the time and this is how it should stay. dont feel bothered by it.

Yes, I remember feeling that it was very real too. Unusually for me, I did't really feel any need to question whether it was just my subconcious mind playing tricks or something more paranormal. I, enjoyed is probably the wrong word but you know what I mean, the experience and benefited from it and I'm happy enough to leave it at that.

It is most likely that they are just dreams, there is nothing apparently paranormal about them. However, if it suits your beliefs that its possible for those that have passed to contact you then I don't see why it isn't perfectly fine to believe that, there's no way to prove either way.

Very interesting. It's great when two family members have the same communication dream on the same night. You should read and submit your experiences to www.adcrf.org

y'know, I've met Judy Guggenheim a few times before (via chatroom) and did discuss these things (she asked all about them), I remember that time well, there were four of us in the chatroom, myself and Judy, a guy called robert browne who is a medium in the uk and US and another author who';s name I can't remember.
Judy was really nice, she was telling me how she discivered John Edward, seemed to take quite a bit of interest in me, but I pulled away from those arenas some time ago.
(I could have been the Irish John Edward lol)

<edit> about a year later I was offered a slot on a national (American) radio station, during paranormal hour, but I turned it down because I wasn't confident enough.
Besides at that stage I felt like I was being pressurised to be something I wasn't, just wasn't sure about the whole spiritualism thing..me being a good Irish catholic an'all.

    :)

I've had a few similar dreams. I had one a couple of years ago, my grandad was in it (he died before I was born). He was just watching me in the dream, and when he saw me looking at him he walked away. I told my dad about it and he said he had a dream the same night about his dad being in the house moving furniture around.
I basically feel like it was my grandad reassuring me as it was only a few weeks after a friend of mine had died.
I felt better after I woke up.

I dreamt about my hubbys grandad, he died before I met my hubby (then boyfriend) so I didn't know who the man in my dream was, but he was showing me a house with a blue bathroom suite. A few weeks later we were looking for a house to rent and saw one with a blue bathroom suite and rented it. After a while we were going through old photos and I saw the man I dreamt about (hubbys grandad). Very strange.

When I was younger, I had a dream about my nana's mother. In the dream, I was talking to her on the stairs of my nana's house (my great gran). A few days later, I was down at my nana's house, and I told her about the dream. She said my description sounded exactly like what her mom looked like. Then she rooted around for a photo and low and behold, it was the same woman that I had dreamt about. Considering I had never before seen a picture of my great gran ... I was only about seven or eight at the time I think.

My uncle died a few years later (the above nana's son) and then, a few years after that, my granda died (my nana's husband). Shortly after, I woke up one night to find two people standing beside my bed. I was distraught after my granda dying, so maybe it was a way of him coming back to say it was okay. I swear to god, that night was so weird, I woke up, the security lights were on outside and I could see the two people beside my bed. I let out a yelp and dived under my quilt saying "I can see you", and then when I put the quilt down, they were gone again. (I got the fright of my life!) My brother asked me the next morning what was I screaming about, that I had woken him.

My other granda died there last week, and last night, I had a dream that I was back outside the church at the funeral mass. I went up to the herse where they had just put in my granda's coffin, and for some bizaare reason, I had my camera with me, and went for taking a picture. Then my granda appeared beside his coffin and said to me that it was okay, that he wasn't really gone at all, and everything would be alright.

That's all I remember, I'd say I woke up shortly after that. I do believe that the dead are still with us some of the time, which I think is comforting.

    You must be

    A- Highly imaginative

    or

    B- Psychically hyper active.

In my opinion both are very good.

    :)

i had a dream a few years back meself.

my granddad died when i was young and i dreamt that we were out in that grannys area and i was first back to the house. when i walked in, he was sittin on the chair in the sittin room. i remember feelin shocked and after talkin for a minute, for some reason, i start playin on the floor like a child with a star wars toy from the 70's or soething. shortly after, the rest of my aunties and granny came home and we all had a sort of welcome home party.

dont think its anything like the above stories, just thought i'd share it anyway. although, my granny has had pictures of me granddad fly off the shelves in that house.

I have been having a strange dream for the last two weeks. I say a dream but it hard to explain so bear with me. I go to bed and fall asleep (not dream).
    (Dream)
when my hubby comes up and comes in the door to our bedroom I sit up in my bed and say hi but someone seems to walk in behind him dont know who it is or can really see them. I stare at the door for a few minutes and then just lie back down and go to sleep. This went on for a about a week and this week I keep waking up (in my dream) seeing figures floating around the room. I always seem to say I cannot hear what you are saying, go away. And last night same thing but this time I said you can stay but if you have something to say say it louder cause your p*ssing me off. Thats the dreams very brief but very strange. I dont feel afarid only annoyed that I cannot hear what they are saying. when I wake in the morning I still feel a bit frustrated.

Anyone have any ideas what this could mean or is it just a dream.

"just a dream", i find comments like that funny because i believe there is always (nearly) some message for us in our dreams, then there are of course the dreams where it is direct contact from the other side (for want of a better term).

Hopefully the Dream Forum starts up soon so we can have a good place to discuss these things.

I agree that dreams hold messages for us but I find it very difficult to take the message out from all the other stuff that goes with the dream. Sometimes I think our thoughts and dreams while we are awake can create the dream and give us the answers we are seeking. No easy task though. A dream fourm would be great cause I have a lot of strange dreams and would love to see if someone else has similar dreams or if they can direct me in the right direction to solve the message within it.
