well i got wario ware with it and it is very good but i found out it doesnt have wireless multiplayer which seems a bit stupid. just a high score game really. bit of fun but i think i shouldve gotten mario.

I'm still trying to decide on what game I get when I go to pick one up this evening. Wario Ware or Polarium.

Polarium is good, but very dry (there is no graphical variety at all, but the game will last you ages if you stick at it. If you like using your brain (!), then go for it!)

Warioware is alot of fun, but you'll finish the main game in 2 hours. You'll see all the minigames in hour 3, and you'll see everything the game has to offer in under 6 hours. But you'll have alot of fun doing it!

    I got mine!!!!

3months ago, it will be while before there are any new great games on it.

Ive got Mario and xx/xy as well as a bunch of advance roms

Think I might pick up Rayman DS and Atari Classics.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,281 ✭✭✭RobertFoster

Was thinking of going in and getting Wario Ware and Project Rub...but I'm not sure...both got 7/10 on EG, both seem to be very short.

Why on earth would anybody buy Wario over MarioDS?
Mario is THE game to buy with the system, it should be packed in!

You wont get a new system for one dead pixel. It has to be a few of them in close proximity.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 834 ✭✭✭dearg_doom

Are you sure, NoA and NoJ replaced all DS's with just one faulty pixel.

    If you're right that's just ****!

It's also wrong since you could argue that its not fit for its intended purpose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,894 ✭✭✭evad_lhorg

i got wario ware. got my DS replaced. i had an idea the dead pixel wasnt the only problem, the touch screens was very loose and if you looked at an angle you could see it dipped in when pressedon. my new one doesnt do that. im happy! lots to do in wario ware. will get mario next week when i get paid.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,891 ✭✭✭Jammer

got one today aswel and noticed it has a dead pixel :(

they better take it back, cause i didnt just pay €190 for something which isnt 100% perfect!

How good is metroid? great use of the touch screen. Mario is good so far!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,309 ✭✭✭✭Bard

    €190???

    They're €149 in Harvey Norman.

Polarium is great fun in Versus mode! Gotta love the single cartridge feature!

I would say both Wario AND Mario are must gets. Maybe Mario first, but ya gotta get both :-D

a pixel which is stuck on white or black, doesnt change colour.

theres also 'lazy pixel' which is a pixel stuck on a color (green, red, blue etc).

A Pixel that sticks on one colour (black or white, or some sort of grey), and doesn't change. Isn't eye pleasing.

My one is fine, I got Mario 64 DS with it, and it's a load of fun, but nobody I know has one yet, so I can't play multiplayer.I'm trying to convince my friends to get one.

They lowered the price in Smyths, from €165 to the RRP of €150. I was suprsied, I've got a bit of money left now. I still need €25 for another game though, can't wait for Mario Kart DS. It's an awesome console, glad I got it.

i notice mine when im playing games, and not in the menu. generaly u only see them when the screen is all white or all black, but cos my 'lazy pixel' is a horrible green colour i see it all the time!

nope, only noticed when i got home. i'll bring it back in tomorrow! hopefully they dont class the screens as they do with TFT monitors

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,894 ✭✭✭evad_lhorg

ok well then mine was a "lazy" pixel too. it was green as well! bring it back. its faulty. you just paid good money for a faulty machine. youre entitled to it!
as i think i said before, my screen was fcuked too. just was real loose.

i bought it in gamestop, and saw their refund policy, something like 'once its in saleable condition'...it was sold to me this way...so i'll package it back up incase they do have any problems with exchanging it.

Thats for non-faluty refunds. They have to repair/replace/refund the DS as it was broken when sold. Thats your rights in law.

Just so you know, that's not always the case. It's just nintendo being nice. Typically (with a laptop, or whatever), the manufacturers have a disclaimer that says that because of the way LCD screens are made, they often end up with faulty pixels, and that this is normal, and does not indicate a fault. Hence you have no legal rights to a replacement.

My laptop has one pixel stuck on blue, but i rarely notice (usually only on a black screen), and it doesn't bother me. But on a DS screen, there are only 4,864 pixels, so one bad pixel shows up much worse than on a laptop screen with 1.3 million pixels, so it's a good thing nintendo are obliging.

It definatley sounds like a stuck pixel. Is it always white no matter what colour is on the screen?

Bring it back if you want, You don't have any right to a replacment. But they might give you one.

I know the story with LCD's on Laptops etc. TBH you still within you rights to return it. The companies definiton of faulty does not effect your legal rights in Ireland. Sombody would have to go to court over it id say though, but it would be worth it to screw Dell etc.

That was all in the US but id say they will follow suit here. Sombody has already gotten theirs replaced so this is all pretty academic.

look in nintendo manual, no disclaimer on the box or in writing in the leaflets/instructions so they have to repair or replace within warranty period. just about to head in now to change it. I'll test the new one there and then. 98% of the time if u dont have one straight away u wont get one!

From what I hear about their policy on monitors, cameras, televisions, etc. - they're not very nice about dead pixels

they changed it for me, no questions asked. said they'd only got two back since friday, so it would seem im just a bit unlucky!! They also say it didnt sell as well as they'd hoped it would.

Your DS? He's talking about PSP's

i felt like a sap asking for a new DS coz of one pixel. but when the screen goes black it stands out and i dont think you will ever forget it. you should replace it the sooner the better. I asked the bloke in game when i bought it if anyone else had any similar problems. he said i was the first one.
    Unlikely

also did anyone see the kid at the launch in Game who bought two DS games and no console. I doubt he already had it from import, he didnt seem the type. i wonder was his story was.

Has anyone got the DS from xtravision, if so are they doing any juicy deals

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,272 ✭✭✭i_am_dogboy

I just spotted a dead pixel on mine, and i can't stop ****ing looking at it. Has anyone sent theirs back to nintendo, just wondering how long it takes. Don't know about bringing it back to gamestop 2 weeks after i bought it, if I get one of the less technically minded staff members they might think i made the pixel red and i'm trying to rip them off....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,653 ✭✭✭steviec

My DS has a dead pixel, got it back in December, got an e-mail back from Lik-Sang with a scan of a letter from Nintendo of Japan saying they *don't* change DS's with dead pixels, that's only in America. Dunno the story with Europe but Nintendo are fond of ignoring Europe in general...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,272 ✭✭✭i_am_dogboy

    http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/ds/trouble_spot.jsp

You can send it back to nintendo if you want, they will fix or replace the screen. Don't know how long you'd have to wait or anything though.
