got ndiswrapper set up with my SMC 2802 v2
works nicely, but the wireless laptop in the gaff has intermittent connectivity, like connects for 5 mins, disconnects for 2 secs and so on.

Ive tried it with and without encryption, same results, any suggestions on tweaking performnce? anyone got any experience with this.
Apart from that its working great, nice speeds (g)
    :D
    ty.

Yeah that's weird. All of a suddent ndiswrapper stopped working for me totally. What i mean is i modprobe ndiswrapper and i get a kernel panic, my entire system freezes.

It works okay in Windows, yep? Some WiFi equipment is just plain dodgy.

There IS a commercial product that does more or less the same thing as ndiswrapper. It costs 30 dollars, but I THINK it has a money-back guarantee if things aren't working, and they have a 30day free trial. (http://www.linuxant.com . That's not ideal tho. Is there anything weird about your kernel?

Have you tried using a static IP, or not using dhclient? dhclient can do weird things sometimes.

I acquired a cheap Prism 54 based card off ebay a while ago. Much to my horror I discovered it uses the "frisbee" chip or something and isn't yet supported by the linux drivers. Ndiswrapper refused to work, but linuxant's driverloader did. Given that I paid next to nothing for the card, the $19.95 for driverloader doesn't seem like a high price for a simple life ;)

I noticed that it seemed to crash out as weell from time to time, as in a kernel crash when you tried to modprobe ndiswrapper.
I upgraded to 1.1 and that seemed to solve the problem, still need to test if it has improved performance though
