This item appears on page 772 of the Autumn-Winter 2004 Argos Catalogue:
    Creative Labs Soundblaster MP3+

Has anybody any experience of it? And could you tell me whether after transferring audio from old tapes or vinyl I can then burn it to CD and play the resulting CD on an ordinary CD player (e.g. in car)?

    Thanks in advance.

    Jim.

Always worth having a look here.

I am guessing you are using a laptop. Otherwise you can use the line-in of any sound card to get your tapes/vinyl.

Record the LP/Tape as a .wav file from the line-in (google for freebie sound recording programs). Use another program (LP ripper? or some such name is one) if want to break LP sides into individual tracks. Use a burning program such as Nero to create an Audio CD, which you can play just like any other CD.
