True, so bad it's good. Same with Neighbours. Last episode of 2004 today. Check out other recent threads on this for more on the flamin' gullahs.

stupid it is but i find myself tuning in regularly at the same time

Stupid is right, yet why-oh-why can't I break the habit?! In my office, we tape Neighbours cos there's this 10 minute overlap. Now *that's* sad. But I think it would be sadder to actually watch it at home...!

I've never been into soaps at all but last year I started watching Home and Away at lunch because we only had RTE1 and 2. I don't watch it everyday anymore but I still ask people who watch it to update me. I don't get it 'cos when I watch I think it's so stupid, but I'm still drawn back. They must be using some kind of mass hypnosis...

Why haven't they updated Sally's Diary on Home & Away's website? Last entry was like November 12th, 2004. And they are still putting "preview of this week" on the front page, but not updating the diary. Bit of a pain, considering I love spoiling the plot for myself by reading months ahead :)

There doing it again, WTF are RTE doing? They are talking off Home and Away for next week, for what i dont know! and replacing it with....get this.....an episode of the simpsons. I mean whats the point?

(PS i only skimmed the SKY EPG but im pretty sure i only seen H&A listed for monday, sorry if iv just ranted for no reason, but they have done it before!)

again, can someone enlighten me as to why to replace a daily soap with a repeat for the 100th of the Simpsons?

I turned it to find the that storyline 'X' happening, so I tuned in the next episode to see what happened.
I was actually impressed at the way the story was unfolded, and the camera work, music and gave a good effect. Well done to the script writers as normally it's diabolical.

Anyone see the episode recently where Irene and Dylan go on a visit to a brothel and all the prostitutes are walking languidly around distracting them?

Then later on Noah is reassuring Robbie about his erection problems by pointing to Alf and suggesting he can't get it up anymore.

That's not quite the Home & Away I remember.

Then again the H&A I remember had a psycic living at the caravan predicticing that Frank would die in a crappy blue car at his wedding to Roo.

[secret home and away watcher] Yeah,I've always looked at it, its actually bloody good [/Secret-don't tell anyone]

[start of something..]My claim to fame is I've been to the set at palm beach about an hour out of sydney-the surf clubhouse is there-peaked inside, its nothing like the TV set inside but they obviously only use the outside-it was all locked up and looks like its used as a hostel of sorts in real life, it was full of bunk beds and ahem I scratched that timber pailing outside and the beach obviously looks familiar but thats about it.
Theres a nice café up at the opposite end of the beach that doesnt look anything like the one they use.
    [/end of something]

big horse racing festival called Cheltenham is on. RTÉ must be showing it at half 1 hence no Home & Away

In Australia they don't film or televise the show for a month every year. They take a break. So RTE has to take a week off here and there to compensate.
A few years ago RTE were only a couple of months behind Australia and they took it off RTE for a month or two during the summer to make the gap bigger. No idea why. Maybe the Australian tv network demanded it.

I've been watching H & A since it started... and I tape it every day just in case I miss a show due to unforseen circumstances.
    I'm a very sad individual! :D

Tasha's new cousin is a madam at a brothel, which is legal in Australia. They didn't show anything very explicit but it was very funny.

Then they had Noah commenting on Alf's erectile disfunction while Alf was standing on the otherside of the room totally unaware it was really funny.

but they took it off for Christmas during the time when Oz episodes were off. I think for the very first time the english episodes are gonna pass out our ones!

Yeah... and that was approx 2 weeks. They take a break filming for a month... therefore RTE have roughly 2 further weeks to take it off tv to compensate.

so glad there's a thread about this.. I've been going on about Friday's episode to anyone who'll listen all weekend! The final scene with Hayley saying goodbye to Noah was heartbreaking. Very moving, and its stayed with me since Friday...

Why did they decide to kill Noah off? He was a great character - couldn't they have got rid of Rhys or Dani that way instead?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,496 ✭✭✭*Angel*

OMG get rid of Rhys his facial expressions kill me, he didn't use to be like that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 63 ✭✭Moe79

Yeah, I've yet to understand how all these women have thrown themselves at Rhys. He's a funny one.

I think all the Sutherlands are gradually being written out anyway..

yeah the only one left in OZ at the minute is Kirsty and she and Kane are leaving this month i think.

kane gets cancer so he's around for a while. also kirsty gets pregnant again, and dani and scott break up.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 63 ✭✭Moe79

Yeah, Kane has landed himself a plum role in a new college drama from the makers of H&A called Campus. It was originally meant to be a spin-off, but they changed that idea for some reason.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,416 ✭✭✭doh.ie

Yeah, that's what this whole business with him suddenly rediscovering education was all about. Odd that they didn't pursue it; I've long thought a H&A spin-off in the "City" would work well...

and Dani pursues a pop career (in real life)
saw the one that plays her on the MTV Australia Video Music Awards the other day
FFS, why dont these soap stars stay away from my fooking radio

HOME AND AWAY is never on during the summer they always take a break.

I thought they were planning to spin-off Noah when I first heard about Campus, becasue they were saying a H&A actor was joining the cast, and given that Noah was at uni and often featured in scenes there, I was sure it was him.

And then when he was killed off, I still thought it'd be Beau Brady who plays him, and that was why they were no longer having it as a spin-off. But alas, its the ever-irritating Kane.
