In many "European" countries such as Switzerland, Austria, Germany and France it is possible to buy online (without cc) from the Ikea website. Admittedly, the same range of products is not available, but it's still a pretty good service IMO.

It's strange to think that countries like Hungary have an Ikea and that the Ikea concept is unknown to the Irish.

Come on Ikea, we're waiting for you ...

    What's wrong with Ballymun???

Ever been to an Ikea before? Surely then you know the kinds of places where they set up in.

Couple of hundred thousand sq feet or whatever their store size is is going to cost them a bucket load less than if they set up in Blackrock or Howth.

Cop yourself on... How do you think they can have their prices so cheap?

If you've a problem going to Ballymun shopping for furniture than I'd suggest that you're probably too posh to be buying Ikea furniture in the first place.

One of the main reasons for opening the Ballymun store in Ikea is to create jobs in the area, which I encourage. I think it's a good thing. However, I hope that Ikea will open further stores in Ireland.

And yes, I've been to several Ikea stores before, in fact, once I even worked for an Ikea.

By the way, Ikea's prices are primarily so cheap because their goods (they not only manufacture furniture) are manufactured in countries where labour costs are very low. The same is true of H&M.

    <quote>Ballymun, of all places! </quote>

Most people going through Ballymun, wouldn't recognise the place anymore! Perhaps news of the larget urban regeneration project in Europe hasnt made it to your part of the island.

Funny enough, Ikea wont be in the field beside Jocksers caravan! It will be in the area setaside as a technology park, in the Ballymun re-development plan. So while there may be the odd tracksuited person in Ikea, i will proceed to ignore you and do my shopping in peace.
