United in the last number of years...

1991-92 - League Cup Winners - lost the league to Leeds as a result of not being good enough (and Leeds having a certain Frenchman at their disposal)

1992-93 Won League (Sign King Eric - 1.2 million *snigger*)

1993-94 League and Cup Double (lost League cup final) - (sign Keano)

1994-95 2nd to Blackburn - Loose to Everton in Cup

1995-96 2nd League and Cup Double

    1996-97 Win League - Semi-Final Euro Cup

    1997-98 2nd League - Quarters of Europe

    1998-99 League-FA Cup-European Cup treble

    1999-00 Win League - Semi's of Europe

2000-01 League almost in the bag already smile.gif

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^
    ============

9 years - 1 (world first) Trebble, 2 doubles, 6 league titles and so on

End of the day, the current ManUtd setup is the greatest club side England has ever seen. No matter how good the Arsenals and the Liverpools of the past were, no one won as many things as Utd are winning (Liverpool in the 70's won more in Europe, but were not done yet, there’s 5 or 6 years in this team yet, so we'll see smile.gif)

So all you ABU's are just ****ed off that UTD are the best, and there’s **** all you can do about it, no matter how many strikers you have Liverpool smile.gif

hahaha you said it 6 titles and only one european cup (which they shouldn't have been in) thats 1 european cup in 6 trys (no where near as good as the old liverpools record)the treble was amazing fair play to them no body can take that away from them it took a lot of work but they won the treble by being in the champions league yes CHAMPIONS league when they came second the season before *ahem* not champions in champions league mmmmmmmmm.

They need to win say 2 more european cup then there a better team then the old liverpool.

And lets take the liverpool Man U game from this season eeeeeemmmmmmmmm what was the score again can't remeber oh 1-0 hahaha that must of hurt in old tratford and all!

To say that United shouldn't have been in the champions league is ridiculos. It'd be like saying Real or Juve don't belong there. If you want a team that didn't belong there it's ARSEnal. They qualified automatically last year cos of United winning the year before - then got knocked out in the first round.

To say that United aren't as good as the Liverpool teams of the past is pure bull****. Athletes improve all the time and even the current Liverpool team would walk all over the "great" Liverpool teams of the past.

Trainging and fitness standards are way higher nowadays than they were in the past. Old people are always talking about the great teams of the past but in reality they'd never keep up with the current breed. They just wouldn't be able to stand the pace for a full 90 minutes. They wouldn't have the range of skills that a modern player has.

Pallister was a great player in his day and served the club well but you can't even compare him to Stam.

In 10 - 15 years time I've no doubt the United team of that era would out-class the current one. Time moves on.

I think he is right the new Liverpool would beat the old Liverpool because of fitness levels and the pace of the game now.

But I wasn't making that comparison I was saying in success rates old Liverpool won more then united you can't even come close to trying to compare teams from the past to teams of now.

In 10 - 15 years hopefully Ferguson will be rotting and dying a slow death beckham will have got shot and keane will have done his knee in and never walk again.

Oh yea and United will be in the 2nd Division hahaha well we can all dream wink.gif

Arsenal deserved to be in the champions league one year CAUSE THEY WON THE FUKKEN LEAGUE!! if juve don't win the league they don't fukken deserve to be there end of story. Its become a joke with 3 teams getting in now. If it was under the old rules United never would have won the Champions league who knows how many more European cups Liverpool could have won if they got in for coming second in the league.

The year United won the Treble THEY DIDN'T WIN THE FUKKEN LEAGUE tongue.gif

They got automatic qualification the year after (99-00) cos they came 2nd and took the "league winners spot" while United took the champions spot.

In terms of success I don't know a lot about the old teams but United's trophys are really piling up. **** loads of leagues, 3(?) FA Cups, league cup, cup winners cup, supercup, european cup, and the first English team to win the "world club cup" a.k.a. Toyota cup. All this under the same manager, and partially the same team (Irwin and Van Der Gauw smile.gif ).

It is a bit - that's rampant comercialism for ya. UEFA had to change it to keep the clubs happy, and stop them forming their own european super-league. Lazio and Real wanted automatic qualification every year no matter where they finished in their leagues rolleyes.gif

Once you get to the second group stage it's not so bad. By then it's pretty much the same thing as the old cup.

Most of the managers and players agree that it's harder to win it now though.

Maybe I support Man U just to feel that utter loathing against the rest of Man U fans?

    An interesting theory.

once we get to the next phase of the european cup it should liven up a bit.

Utd's two games against Valencia should be good but god only knows how leeds will do against Lazio and Real
