Which is the best MP3 player? I'm thinking either the Zen Creative or the mini ipod would be good. I dont want huge capacity. The capacity of the mini ipod would do me. So which out of these two is better. Or is there a brand I'm missing out on?

Well if you're willing to wait a little while the 2nd generation iPod mini is going to be out soon, with a much longer battery life than the current one *curses 6 hour battery life*

the craetive is cheaper, longer battery life, more space but three creatives have broken on me!

I have an ipod - the itunes software is diabolical, and makes me regret buying one. Also, it is very propriety (spelling?) so totally unflexible.

They look good, and they are from a "cool" company, but they are ****.

The iriver H10 (or something - look on their website) is totally cool. You can buy them in back to the future on aungier street in Dublin. Not cheap though.

It really depends on the space you need. Are you gonna put whole albums on there, eg. Your full CD Collection, then get a hard drive mp3 player. If your only putting on the odd mp3 from each CD, Id stick with a flash player.

If you are choosing from IPod Mini, Zen Micro and IRiver H10, Id go with the H10, its durable and is full of features.

    ehm... ephpod?
i actually like itunes as a method of getting music onto your ipod. much better than the stupid "drag and drop folders" system of the zen touch. that gets so ****ing annoying if you have any non music files along with the music

I got my mp3 player a year or so ago, it is a Creative labs nomad. 20gb so it has my entire collection on it, but it is bigger than the newer players, so I bought a 256mb recently, and again went with creative labs.

A friend has has their Zen micro, think it has 5mb and loves it.

you have to be kidding? seriously. does that method give you TOO much freedom. thats like lauding the virtues of gift vouchers for a prticular shop over cash, as the gift vouchers are more focused for your task.

sony hd3 is very good @313euro delivered from the uk.
30 hour battery life, as small as an ipod mini, and 20GB with a shock protection for the hard disk. sony reliability.

Creative Zen definatley, iRiver might be better but much dearer if you have a ebay account search for a user called creative.lab apparently he works at creative and refurbishs broken mp3 players and sells them(he has a very high feedback rate on ebay) i seen you can get a 30GB Creative Zen Xtra for $150 without shipping!

I heard something about the sony hd3, that it can only be used on one PC. Is this true. Its a bit ****ed up if you have a machine in work and one at home.

nah not true, well yes it is partly, basically if u dont register the player and the pc with sony thru sonicstage, by default it will only work on that one pc, to make it work on any other pc u have to delete the hd3 and start again.

however with a 2 minute registration u can reg multiple sony devices and upto 5 pcs on 1 account and transfer your music freely between them. also they give u 45$ worth of free music on registering :)

u do need all pcs to be reged with sony to have web access initially, once its reged thats it, can disconnect the internet if u need to.

I've also been looking for a suitable Mp3 player. I didn't like the ipod when it first come out but it has kinda grown on me. The one bonus it has is the radio transmittor which I would find very usefull. You can get this one for the iRiver but its very chunky, the ipod one that just clips on the top is so much neater... I like the photo capability on the iRiver, i just wish they would come out with somehting that has the best of all of them... anyone know of any such thing in the pipeline?

i honestly think you cant go wrong with a creative or an iPod. iPods look better and are smaller but in my opinion creatives sound better.

i went creative cos they use laptop hard drives and i wanted to upgrade mine.

i got a creative zen xtra 30gb and upgraded to a 80gb hard drive. ive around 13,000 tracks on it. :D

Did you not learn after the first two broke? So really it's more expensive, you seem to be the only one that has had a creative break, what did you do?
