I was just wondering about peoples opinion on different manufacturers. Who you would buy and who you wouldn't touch. I heard that Corsair is the bee's knees. Any truth to this. They certainly charge more than the rest. I want to buy new ram and dont mind paying a bit extra if it's worth it, but why? I bought 512 ram about 5 months ago, and haven't seen the same manufacturer since. Im using solidworks (some of ye might know it) and the pc freezes occationally. I reckon it's the ram but im not sure. Any suggestions? Im planning on buying 1GB of ram in 2 *512 pc3200. Any suggestions on that. All comments welcome and all help appreciated. ;)

It depends on what you want your RAMfor, eg. overclocking/tweaking. Corsair is great, I've found. OCZ just released some VX mem which is seemingly the fastest ever. It needs a lot of voltage though.
Other brands that are supposed to be good are Patriot, GSkill and Geil

Yea i was looking at buying some ram meself and everywhere i looked i was advised to get corsair. Not really sure exactly what to get though?
Whats the difference between ddr2 and ddr-dimm?
Also whats the significance of 'PCxxxx' and there being available in increases numbers up to PC5600?

Crucial are also damn good: http://www.crucial.com/
As are kingston for replacements to original memory from manufacturers. Dell use them: www.kingston.com

PCxxxx i believe is a measure of speed! wrong or right guys? Depending on your motherboard i dictates what you can get. For example my motherboard supports PC2700 and PC3200. I think i will go for the Corsair, better of spending the money on something good. The only problem now is I cant seem to get a job.

be careful when buying ram as some motherboards dont take so well to certain makes. i bought 2 512 sticks of Corsair XMS and my Asus system became very unstable. i swapped it with my brother for 2 512 Kingstons and it has run perfectly ever since. the Corsair ran perfectly on his Gigabyte board. if you look on the Crucial or Kingston sites they have a calculator for most motherboards out there which will tell you which ram is suitable.

The best one to get is OCZ because their products are really good and their customer service is excellent without a doubt. Any problems and they sort you out immediately. OCZ members can be found on several forum for support. GSkills makes good ram as well and they do have support too. Cant vouch for the RMA process.

I don't overclock but my Crucial and Twinmos stuff is rock solid in my servers.

I second OCZ has the top ram manufacturer.

    Geil are good too.

Ocz are probably the best. Mushkin, Geil and crucial are good also.
