    Raheny Shamrock won their first ever team gold medal at National Senior Cross Country level today in Tymon Park. The scoring team of the Great Mick Traynor, Ian Cheney, Mark Kirwan and Liam O'Halloran won the team gold by 4 points. It caps off a fanastic end of season for the club pariticularly as Traynor won the National Masters cross country in January and on the same day Liam O'Halloran was second in the national intermediate.

    The Raheny ladies team of Susan Byrne, Fiona McGreevy, Aoife Talty and Brid NiChonall finished third in the ladies race, so it was a fanastic day for the North Dublin club.
    Its caps off a brillant Cross Country season for the Shamrocks as in November Vinny Mulvey became the first Raheny Man to win a national Senior cross country title when he won the Intercounties. Also the Junior men's team led home by Bronze medalist Mick Clohessy were second in the National Junior CC two weeks ago.

    What a time to be a Raheny man.

    Congratulations to Mark Keneally on his gold medal in Tymon park today.

    3rd.Raheny Shamrock.

    Couple of points, Colin Costello dropped out of the mens race on the second lap, He lay on the ground for a bit holding his leg. Also Maria McCambridge ran the mens race, strange one, I think she would have been better off winning the womens, she finished about 25th in about 23 minutes.

    Another few points;
    1. Whats the point in not sending a short course team to the worlds???
    2. Will we keep having a short course championship after 2007.

    Also whats the point in not sending a junior team? And why to Ireland wear white now instead of green?

    Thanks very much DaveH. I think it has something to do with white being a very light colour especially for the Olympics
