    Hey,

Has anyone any guides on formatting a hard drive? Id be interested to do one, but it would be my very first time. Iv plenty of experience repairing computers, just never done a format.

Id use the ones Google throws up but I was wondering has anyone any other suggestions/easy guides? And I see theres tools that do it - what are they like?

its simple: back up your stuff if u want to because you'll loose everything

Reboot your computer and go in the BIOS (usually like F6 or Del)
Then search for boot order options and set it to cd-drive or dvd wutever then hdd and then floppy
save changes and then once your back on desktop put the xp cd in your drive and reboot
you get a screen saying press any key to boot from cd, sometimes u dont. Then you get another screen and after all that u see your partition. Delete the partition and then create a new one. Once you created a new one choose to put xp on that partition, then the setup will come up

    hope this helped

edit: u do have an IDE drives rite if u don't tell us

also at one point after putting windows it will ask you to take floppy out and theres a countdown. When it says that take the xp cd out
