The new season has my thumbs up now lads, I'm not going to give any new change praise over the others but something seemed to work here.

I can't believe how small the Ferraris fuel tank is, how coultard got where he did, how much of a c**t Michael was to Nick, how many times the Minardis were lapped, how poor the BAR team looked even when they had space, how I hate itv presenters so much with their uncanny Gay Byrne like patronising, how happy I am to see Renault looking so dominating, how bad Ralf really was and expecting such a torrent of whinging in the press from him.......

I feel a bit simpsons-comic-store-guy doing this at this hour by in my defence, I am still a bit wired...

I found the a bit uninteresting without the all tactical disicions going on as a result of lack of tyre changes. I also found it depressing having no Irish interest to cheer on. Seeing that gob****e on the Jordan pitwall instead of Eddie was heart breaking

Thumbs down for me. I hope this race was not a good example of whats to come this season. If there was any overtalking in this race it was simply because cars were out of position anyways (due to rainy qualifying). Got to say it was one of the least interesting F1 races I've seen in a long time ...

Considering what happened in qualifying, I thought the race was far less interesting than it should have been. The guys at the back should have been carving their way through the field and they just didn't, seems to be a product of the new rules not allowing them to push hard. Will have to see a race with a normal grid to judge the new rules properly.

The performance of the cars does bode well, McLaren weren't as all-conquering as people made out, far from it in fact, I was really worried we'd get nother 1998 from the way people were talking about it. But Renault(obviously) and Ferrari(Barrichello was brilliant although the coverage pretty much ignored him, and Schumacher was doing better than Raikkonen having both started at the back before messing up) showed a lot of pace so it should be very competitive at the top between those three teams when they all get to qualify properly. Red Bull were impressive, they lucked into a good starting position but had the pace to stay there too. Unlike Toyota who disappointed. Can't say I was surprised with BAR, they happened to have a great car last year but I never thought it would be more than a one-off. My biggest disappointment were Williams, I knew they were supposed to be a little off the pace, but I thought that considering what Mark Webber did in a Jaguar he'd be able to push faster cars in his Williams but it didn't happen.

Overall it was an uninteresting race with interesting results. Have to see a normal race with fair qualifying to make proper judgement on how the season is looking.

I was very 'appy ( :D ) to see Fisi win. Been a fan of his since he drove for Jordan first time around in '97. Not a very exciting GP, I must admit, but the weather during qualifying did mix it all up a bit, which was good. Of course, we can't rely on strange weather like that all season so I think where the weather is more "normal", so to speak, we'll probably see pretty much the old status quo, unfortunately. Hmmm, perhaps the FIA should install water sprinkers around the track and turn them on at random times to shake things up a bit! ;)

I think Red Bull did a great job, though the circumstances certainly helped. I don't think they'll have that kind of luck or performance all year, though. As the bigger teams go through the year, they'll be developing their cars rapidly and I don't know if Red Bull will be able to keep pace with that kind of development.

I think the biggest disappointment of the race had to be B.A.R.'s performance. From finishing second in the Constructers' Championship last year and scoring podiums regularly, well, what a difference a year makes, eh? Maybe Honda we're too quick to dismiss David Richards, perhaps? We'll have to wait and see but I expected a lot more from them.

Renault are looking fantastically strong. The car seems to handle well, there's no shortage of power from the engine and it uses it's tyres really well too, which under the new regulations could give them a big advantage over their rivals as the year progresses. Sure, the Albert Park circuit probably suited the car and the way it used it's tyres but still, having said that, I think they are going to be real challengers all year.

As for Ferrari, well, I bet they've got to be wondering if it's time to get their fingers out and get their new car ready sooner.

Were Ferrari really so bad? Barrichello started just ahead of Alonso and finished just ahead of Alonso, after passing everyone in the field except Fisichella. Schumacher also made more progress from the back of the grid than Raikkonen did, before crashing out. I don't think there was anything wrong with their pace at all, just circumstances didn't work out.

It was cringing to see Martin Brundle asking Nicholas Cage for a few words before race, while he was doing his usual sprint up the track trying to interview drivers.

Have to say it was very weird to see cars pull in and no tyre change.Could be some of the mechanics are going to be on the dole if the tyres get better and better.Think its a bit much having to do a another qualifying lap before race, very risky as one driver nearly went into wall,Kimi i think it was?

All in all glad to see Giancarlo Fisichella win and roll on Sepang.

Amen to that. It's getting to be more like a lottery than best driver/best team, which defeats the whole purpose TBH.

I thought it was a generally rubbish GP. All of these new rules have f**ked up the championship completely. I know we want to see competitive racing but none of these changes are going to work. Its got soooo confusing watching F1 now its like watching a mathematical physics lecture for an hour and a half on TV but even more boring.

    F1 is a joke - FACT
