i had fun earlier screaming at my friend on msn cause for some bizarre reason despite me literally cutting his broadband cable with an axe he still seemed to be online...turned out somehow the wires in the distant interland got crossed and i was screaming abuse (stealing bandwith etc) at some random french girl who was in tears by the end of it.

speaking of microsoft annoyances does anyone know how someone reinstalls internet explorer when its broken? Mine stopped working (just says page cant be found no matter what i do. so i assume bug or virus of some kind) yet every attempt to download and reinstall it has resulted in microsoft denieing me because A) i'm not using internet explorer (sigh) or B) I have it already installed and shouldnt need to reinstall...

    basterds.

I often had problems with IE driving me towards other browsers. To have it re-installed is a pain, because well u cant cause it doesnt seem to make a difference. Use IEradicator to remove it fully for u and then re-install. Do yourself a favour a switch to anything but IE :) best of luck anyway.

I think if you go to Add/Remove programs and choose Internet Explorer from the list, there's a "Repair" option.

Speaking of more Microsoft annoyances, I use Firefox and IE popups keep coming back to haunt me. If I leave the computer on overnight I might get maybe 40-50 popups, but I've since installed a firewall and blocked IE so it hasn't been happening *crosses fingers*.

It sounds like you have spyware installed on your machine.

Use a program like Spybot or Ad-aware.

    definitely spyware.

adaware and spybot are both really good at wiping out that crap.

    go here: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
    and here: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

Back to the MSN problems there's certain people who when I talk to them my messages don't get through or their messages don't get through at all which is odd.

Seems to happen the most with someone I know who's on Esat..

Anyone else get millions of those "The following message cannot be sent to all recipients" or some shiite message?

yea... or I just start missing messages intermittently

Most annoying thing is getting dropped outta multi-person conversations though.. even though I just typed something so it's not a timeout thing

    slaps julep...

yeah i'm on firefox now. but it still a pain in the arse when all the microsoft products i have (msn messenger etc) keep on trying to open explorer which then for lack of a btter term spams my computer over 60 times.

set firefox as your default browser.

no, i don't know how to do that. if i did, i would do it myself.

Tools>Options and there's a tickbox in General that says "Check if Firefox is your default browser" or something like that.

This thing is doing my head in, I have to change my LAN settings back and forth  all the time.

And if I want to "send" an e-mail I have to knock off my firewall >crying icon<
