    A friend of mine got a Latitude D505. It was running fine until she had a problem with the login screen andwent into Computer Services in UCD. The Techican ran the recovery disc. It was SP2 now its SP1a. Now its very slow.

    1) Shouldn't the CPU Speed be 1400MHz and not 600MHz?

    2) Upon Bootup, the user is automatically logged in.I check task manager and processes are neither assigned to a user or a system task.

    Power Saving - mine does the same on battery.

    1395.4MHz ---> 598.0 MHz - Intel StepSpeed Technology.

    Check your power saving settings.

    There is no SpeedStep Tab in Power saving settings. It goes between 600 and 1400 when I use the battery or mains, before it was just at 600 for both. now its seems to be working for no apparent reason
