Download atitool. That will give you a reading in the system tray and allow you to overclock further. If you re-installed your ATI drivers (which you should have) there should be a temperature readout somewhere in the driver control panel too

i don't think you can, as the temp diodes were not on the 9800pro's when shipped.

although you're card is at 9800XT speeds it is still essentially a 9800pro card.

i'm not 100% sure on this so if anyone can correct me, go ahead

You are probably right, Cremo, but I have seen accounts of where flashing to xt suddenly gave users the flasher temp info that they didn't have before @9800 pro

    Zalman ZM80C-HP

Need to get the fan as well, but so far so good :)

Good HS. If you you have enough airflow through the case you might not need to fan...

Pretty good airflow (Thermaltake Xaser III with 4 case fans), but didn't want to risk it. Slapped on the optional Zalman fan onto the heatpiped card. Runs grand @5v but feel safer @12v

    €100 for a 9800XT is good going though :D

I dont get a temp reading on my card also.

Would it be wise to flash my card to a PRO ? As its a NP at the moment. Core can go up to 425 without any problem but MEM only goes to 317 before screen starts to go all funny.

Was thinking maybe if i flashed it the mem might improve. Its default is 335/290

I was looking into this a while back and I think the story is that some 9800Pros actually have the XT chip in them, the R360 I think, but some just have the original 9800Pro chip the R350. They made more R360s then they could flog off as XTs so they restricted some and floggged them as 9800Pros. If you flash a R360/9800Pro with an XT bios you get a full XT card with temperature readings and clock rate and all. If you flash a R350/9800Pro with an XT bios you don't get temp readings (no probe built into the chip) and it can be hit and miss if you'll get XT speeds or not (good cooling helps a lot). Looks like your 9800Pro has an R350 chip unfortunatly :(

I flashed my old 9800 pro (R360) core to an XT. After the flash I could see the temperature using ATI tool. You have to turn it on though.

That's what I thought before. I have the R360 otherwise there is no point flashing. No temp sensor though or I don't know how to access / view it. Would it depend on what make BIOS you use? Probably does

No not wise. Your core is fine but memory is way off, needs to be at least 365. Did you check the chip? Have to take the fan off for that
