don't count on it, XPS 1 hasn't been launched here yet, and Desktop XPS has just been launched, when it was available at .com website for a looong time

I hope you are wrong.. Incredible performance for a laptop.. Reasonable enough prices too..

they are reasonable in the US wait till it comes here ;)

there is just no demand for a fast laptop in Ireland or Europe, or they would probably have brought it here by now.

The Inspiron 9300 is just about to be launched here:

    Same Screen
    Same GFX (256Bit 6800Go 256MB)
    Same options
Better CPU (Pentium-M running on new 533Mhz DDR2 platform)
    Lower Price

I say Pentium M is better as the performance is excellent (the new 533MHz based model is even faster than the already impressive original) and the temperature and battery life are leagues ahead of the P4 DTR.

Yeah they basically launch the same laptop here just under a different name. I have the 9100 which is essentially the XPS1, they look exactly the same and the specs are almost the same

The 9100 and 9200 are both very fast and available in Europe, since launch. As mentioned above, the 9300 is even better and also out in Europe.

The XP2 comes with a 6800 Go Ultra.. The main difference..

Unfortunatley if you get the 9300,the 6800 Ultra is not an option for it.
Not designed for it,the form factor of the ultra will not fit, the heatsink is too small, and the XPS2 has better cooling and a bigger PSU to cope with the ultra.
Fingers crossed Dell will release the XPS2 here-its doubtful, but if enough people show intrest in it, who knows.

yeah but those are like series laptops, like for example BMW 3 series, 5 series, 7 series, but BMW also offers special models for 3 and 5 series the "M", Dell is almost the same with an exception that they don't offer special models to us, people buy the serial models, but not the M models, like I said they just started offering Desktop XPS, which was offered on the US site decades ago, on the other hand, they may just simply think that we don't deserve the XPS models yet ;)

and another thing, if you compare the US Inpiron 9100 and UK/Irish 9100, the US has Rad9800, but the one available to us has the older 9700.

Called Dell today and the sales person is gonna check with their marketing dept..

Yep, was just gonna post that mistake on my behalf and also the fact the XPS2 uses a Pentium M like the 9300, so all in all, the XPS2 is a much nicer laptop than the XPS1.

Would you not consider getting the 9300 though.. as you say, only difference is the GFX (well the cost too!)?

I don't know guys, I mean that laptop is HUGE!

even if they offered in here, I prolly wouldn't buy it.

now if they made it small and as powerful *sigh*

Its only big because of the screen though, its slimmer and neater than the Alienware DTR systems.

there is plenty of demand for gaming laptops in Ireland and Europe and there is plenty of demand for laptops full stop because of their portablility

The Alienware machine is 14lbs with about 2lbs for the charging unit.. Its a compleye monster.. Also has poorer battery like.

I'd agree with this, but a 17" screen is a bit of overkill in a laptop imo. It will be very unwieldy and probably piss you off when you have to carry it around

Seemingly they are releasing it in April/May.. Vague or what..
