I am an experienced PC builder / OC'er merchant, but am relatively clueless in the realm of HTPC / Media PC and would like some clarifications, as this is my new build beginning today :O) for the lounge.

Now it has to be straight forward enough for my wife to find it easy to use.

    Features

    1. Timeskip recording
    2. TV recording to HD
    3. Wireless Networking
    4. DVd / VCD playback5. MP3's / CD's
    5. This is to hook up to my existing widescreen TV (CRT 32")

I am intending to use XP Media Centre, tell me if this is a bad step! I want to have remote control menu access from which I can view Program Information and select things to record etc, the keyboard is not intended to be used in general usage if possible.

What is the minimum spec CPU I should consider (I am an intel Fanboy)
What is the minimum Spec Graphics Card required?

I was looking at the Silverstone Cases, also the shuttle style.
Should I stick with a case that takes an ATX board? I don't want this PC to sound like concord taking off, so it is essential it is inaudible above the background noise.

A couple of SATA HD's will provide the storage, with a Dual Layer DVD+-RW and a CD-RW (maybe) or maybe just a combo drive.

I am unconcerned about the budget, but am aiming for a decent performance level for the jobs outlined above, without going mad.

It will be Wirelessly networked to my existing Gaming PC

    Tnx,

    Inqui
