Hey dont know if anyone can help me.

I just read a reply to a thread that someone was unemployed and filled out a p50 and got their tax back.

I worked from jan-may 2003 and got taxed loads, then I went on a J1 for the summer. When I came back in sept I couldn't get a job for ages, finally got one in november but that only lasted 2 months cause the shop closed.

Can I still get the tax back from 2003?

Also I left my job this year in january after 2 moths due to approaching finals in college and got paid that week. That was 7 weeks ago. I haven't received my P45 or my P60. I was on emergency tax so I really need to get that money back. I'm owed over €200 and could really do with it.
A girl I know who left there ages ago just happened to pop into the shop the other day to say hi to the staff and she was told her P60 was in the safe and had been there ages. She wouldn't have known if she had not gone into the shop.

Does my employer have to send your P45 or P60 to your home address when you no longer work in the shop?
Are they obligated to let me know that they have it?

you only get a p60 at the end of the tax year, and should be given to you immediately.
your p45 should be sent to you immediately upon ending a job.

if you dont get either, then i would contact the tax office and tell them.

when your unemployed you can claim a tax back by filling in a P50 form .

if your unemployed, d/l it, fill it in and hand it in to your local tax office, i did and got €430 .
