thinking of ordering a psp but i have a couple of concerns, is it possible to change the menu on the console completely to english, so it would look like a european one with no problems understanding it.
also wot sort of adaptor would i need to get to charge it up, or if anyone of anything else i should get

    thanks to anyone who helps

yes, just set language to english.
The adaptor comes with it, all you need then is a standard 2 pin power cable to plug into the adaptor, the type that is in most radios etc...

250 before delivery for the value pack... then customs will probably get you too, they charged me 80 euro! So 250 seemed like great value but by the time I have it in my hands its costing me nearly 400

One thing I would mention is that the X button and O are reversed, O is now the "accept" button and X is "back" Its a bit wierd but you get used to it.

I bought mine off Ebay.com.au (alot of asian sellers) I managed to get the Value pack with a copy of Need for speed for €290 delivered, I did have to wait an extra week for the game though, He marked the PSP down as au$30 so I didnt get stung for customs. Great deal!!! Keep an eye on Exchange rates though, the aussie $ is always changing.

Id say it will be june before its out here.

I thought that is the way it is in the PS2 system menu.

It is, also mgs is like this too!

I thought wipeout pure wasnt out yet. Cant wait for it.

Hypothetically if i were to buy the psp off lik-sang for 211 euros (Just psp, no mem stick rubbish, i'm gonna buy a 1gig stick) how much customs would i get hit for?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,008 ✭✭✭rabbitinlights

About €80 at least, a mate ordered a game ($59) from them and DHL charged them €21 for Customs+handling charge. I dont know where did they get those charges from??? Mental!

I got it through www.videogamesplus.ca but their first batch of psp preorders has now sold out. Peteee as far as i know wipeout pure is still scheduled to be lauched at the american release. i heard rumors that it would be pushed back to the european release but that was awhile ago and no sites have pushed back the release yet so fingers crossed.

whatever you do, do no use UPS for postage, or you are guaranteed to have to pay about 100 in customs. If you use standard post, chances are you wont be charged anything in customs.

Can I just ask anyone who has a PSP already, what's the main point in getting the value pack over the standard??

    Are the headphones any good?

Is the remote any good? Is it really that useful?

I reckon the soft case would be of little benefit,

Basically I think I would just end up replacing everything but the remote...

Actually, can you use an old minidisc remote with it, if only just with the MP3 function?

    :)

I got the Value pack, mainly for the cover and the remote, I use different earphones, mainly because I just could never wear white earphones, The earphones are actually quite good, but I use a pair of Sennheiser MX550 instead though. I think the case is perfect, it add's very little size wise and can be shoved into your pocket when not used. The remote is quite good but a little cheap feeling (compared to IPod) but is essential for listening to mp3's when the screen is off.

Id buy the value pack again.

Grr feeling quite annoyed about the price I payed for my PSP from Lik-Sang after reading some of the things people paid on here. It was about 300 euro including game and delivery which I could live with, but then the 80 euro customs was the icing on the cake!

Now I have it though I dont regret it. It's worth 500 euro if thats what they charged for it.

Ive shown it to a few mates who love there PS2 and didnt even know that the PSP has even been made, they didnt belive me that it was sooo cheap, I had to show them the ebay confirmation.

€300 is a fair price for the console, just think of the customs as the price you pay for having it months before it comes out here..... and seeing that very confused face on people who have just blown €400 on an Ipod!

The whiteness of the earphones bothers me too:)

the main thing for me is that I can get a hard case for $6 off PA, use a set of my own earphones and get a 512MB/1GB card, and save the guts of 35euro!

    thanks for the info though!

According to Amazon.co.uk, its going to be out on April 29, and will cost STG£180, so thats about €280 including delivery.

Amazon have no official release date. There just speculating. My guess is the price is set higher than expected retail so anyone that preorders will not be pissed off if the price increases.
