Creative Creative Inspire T-5900 - Center Speaker buzzing!

    Hi all,

    I got these speakers last week and I haven't been 100% happy with them, the center speaker seems to buzz constantly (quietly - but it's still annoying!)

    I am using a RealTek AC'97 soundcard, which has never given me hassle before, the surround sound set up appears to be configured correctly and all cabling is correctly inserted.

    Have I just been stuck with a dodgy set of speakers or am I missing something?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    /Kone

    get a lend of a soundcard.

    Might be feed back off the on board sound if your new speakers are a wee bit more senstive to noise than your last ones.

    Does the centre speaker still buzz when you disconnect the input cables from the computer?

    If yes, it may be induced interference from another device - try moving the centre speaker and cable away from your monitor and power cables and see if it improves.

    If no, the noise is coming from your motherboard. Unless your previous speakers were also 5.1, you won't have noticed this problem with the centre output before.

    Are you sure that soundcard supports those speakers. I saw this from a review of other 5.1 Creative speakers:
    "Just make sure you have a decent soundcard ,ie the likes of Audigy2/ZS/Soundstorm ,I do not recommend using AC97 , Realtek ,Sigmatel ,or any other onboard sound chip."

    It works fine if I am watching a 5.1 DVD, it doesn't buzz if I unplug the speaker, so it's not interference.

    I will try a 5.1 Audigy card, anyone know where I can pick up a cheap one?

    Thanx for the tips :D

    <5.1 newbie alert!>

    The Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 is 6.1, I presume when I hook up my speakers I can just ignore Rear Center?

    Does anyone have any experience buying refurbished products from Creative? There is a nice Sound Blaster Audigy2 for the nice price of €42....
