cleaned up the advanced archers list a bit, also got the awards for 500+ now

put down 300+ as the score needed for barebow to get the beginner prize. however i had 400+ as the score needed for a barebow archer to become advanced.

for example if someone has only shot barebow but has scored 400+ on barebow, they can't shoot as a beginner, only as advanced(if they choose to stop doing barebow). do ye think this should be changed down to 300 too? makes things simplerer, or perhaps set both as 350 for bare bow archers?

Does an advanced barebow shooter have to shoot on a 40cm target? I don't think so but just clarifying.

There is no advanced barebow. I think Aryzel is referring to barebow archers who switch to recurve have to shoot in advanced if they've shot above a certain score with barebow. Seems reasonable.

You'll get a badge when you actually turn up madrab :p

I think we should repossess all madrabs badges on account of him makin complete asses of us in carlow. give them to the needy.

it was 2am when i wrote that so i might have been a little unclear.

For those that have never shot as a beginner.
If you have scored 300+ as a advanced archer, you can not go back and then shoot as a beginner, otherwise, sinead, ciaran, ewan, fergal ect could shoot as a begineer.

At the moment if you've shot 400 as a barebow, you can't shoot as a beginner, you can only shoot as barebow or advanced.

I think perhaps that should be lowered to 300 or 350 for barebow archers, as your likely to get an extra 50-100 points just by putting a sight on the bow.

hmmmm I wonder what would happen if I took the longrod + sight off the 2001 and inserted the barebow weight kit into it - could have a crack at the BB record when my new Extremes come back :)

Lowering the score to 350 sounds fair enough, like you said, anyone who can shoot 350 with barebow should shoot 400 with a sight.

Just found out that Niamh is getting a NUI sports award for all her success this year! Its the first time in about 15 years that anyone from a small club in the college has won one! :D

Well done Niamh, keep the acceptance speech short - about 15 minutes will do! ;)

Was looking at the UK university archery site

    http://uk.geocities.com/studentarchery/index.html

They had their national indoors in february, 383 archers, there were 17 bare bow, the winning bare bow score was 455, on 60cm targets too.

Just shows the standard Niamh is shooting at. Her award is well deserved.
